Download or read book C*-Algebras written by Joachim Cuntz and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-09-27 with total page 554 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a collection of articles provided by the participants of the SFB-workshop on C*-algebras, March 8 - March 12, 1999 which was held at the Sonderforschungsbereich "Geometrische Strukturen in der reinen Mathematik" of the University of Münster, Germany. The aim of the workshop was to bring together leading experts in the theory of C* -algebras with promising young researchers in the field, and to provide a stimulating atmosphere for discussions and interactions between the participants. There were 19 one-hour lectures on various topics like - classification of nuclear C* -algebras, - general K-theory for C* -algebras, - exact C* -algebras and exact groups, - C*-algebras associated to (infinite) matrices and C*-correspondences, - noncommutative prob ability theory, - deformation quantization, - group C* -algebras and the Baum-Connes conjecture, giving a broad overview of the latest developments in the field, and serving as a basis for discussions. We, the organizers of the workshop, were greatly pleased with the excellence of the lectures and so were led to the idea of publishing the proceedings of the conference. There are basically two kinds of contributions. On one side there are several articles giving surveys and overviews on new developments and im portant results of the theory, on the other side one finds original articles with interesting new results.

Book Synopsis Natural Remedies for Low Testosterone by : Stephen Harrod Buhner
Download or read book Natural Remedies for Low Testosterone written by Stephen Harrod Buhner and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2016-01-22 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to maintain optimum testosterone levels for the male body through the use of herbs, nutritional supplements, and diet • Explains the phenomenon of male menopause and how to deal with it • Reveals scientific evidence of testosterone-blocking agents in the environment that alter men’s essential chemistry as they age • Presents safe, organic plant medicines that can restore optimum testosterone levels • Contains the most up-to-date natural treatments for impotence, infertility, and prostate disease The recognition of andropause, the middle-age stage in male development comparable to women’s menopause, is hampered by the lack of a clear outward manifestation of the chemistry and physiology specific to aging men. Men are still capable of reproduction well into and beyond middle age. Yet a man’s sexual desire and potency varies, often according to his testosterone level. Recent studies show that the lowered testosterone levels endemic in aging men--a gradual drop that is quite normal--are being exacerbated by environmental agents. Testosterone-blocking estrogen agents are present in insecticides, industrial materials, pharmaceuticals, and foods. Men are daily inundated with a “cocktail” of estrogen agents that alter the fine balance of testosterone that makes them male. But as recent medical research has revealed, testosterone replacement therapy with Low T drugs is not a good option because of the increased risk of cardiovascular problems, such as heart attack and stroke, and because the body can become dependent on pharmaceutical testosterone and stop producing any on its own. In this updated edition of The Natural Testosterone Plan, Stephen Harrod Buhner shows why men need help to maintain their testosterone levels as they age and explains how naturally occurring phytoandrogens--plant medicines that contain male hormones--can safely remedy the depletion exerted by the environment. Buhner details how each phytoandrogen works, when its use is indicated, and the most appropriate method of application, providing all men with safe, natural, and effective means of maintaining optimum testosterone levels well into old age.

Book Synopsis Reconstructive Urethral Surgery by : F. Schreiter
Download or read book Reconstructive Urethral Surgery written by F. Schreiter and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-16 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook seeks to determine the current state-of-the-art of reconstructive urethral surgery and to identify new trends in this subspecialty of reconstructive urology. To this end, inter- tionally known experts and opinion leaders in the field were invited to Hamburg, Germany to discuss and demonstrate today’s commonly used surgical techniques. Dialogues that took place during this convention, held in the spring of 2001 at the General Hospital in Hamburg-Harburg, are presented in book chapter format in this volume. The text is rounded out by live recordings of the most important of the surgical procedures. (DVD included with this compendium. ) Our desire was to publish, in close collaboration with Springer, a surgical textbook that p- sents the most important basic and modern techniques in urethral surgery. These techniques are underscored with simple and instructive drawings and »live surgery« video clips. We consciously chose not to make the text an all-inclusive surgical text. Thus the techniques included reflect a deliberate subjective selection on the part of the editors. We focused on the »renaissance« of graft techniques. Much of the material is concentrated on buccal mucosal and preputial grafts Two-stage surgical techniques, particularly for complex cases or patients who have undergone multiple previous operations, are also included. This book is written for all urologists.
