Download or read book A Mathematical Introduction to Dirac's Formalism written by S.J.L. van Eijndhoven and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1986-10-01 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph contains a functional analytic introduction to Dirac's formalism. The first part presents some new mathematical notions in the setting of triples of Hilbert spaces, mentioning the concept of Dirac basis. The second part introduces a conceptually new theory of generalized functions, integrating the notions of the first part. The last part of the book is devoted to a mathematical interpretation of the main features of Dirac's formalism. It involves a pairing between distributional bras and kets, continuum expansions and continuum matrices.

Book Synopsis Generalized Functions, Convergence Structures, and Their Applications by : Bogoljub Stankovic
Download or read book Generalized Functions, Convergence Structures, and Their Applications written by Bogoljub Stankovic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Proceedings consists of a collection of papers presented at the International Conference "Generalized functions, convergence structures and their applications" held from June 23-27, 1987 in Dubrovnik, Yugoslavia (GFCA-87): 71 participants from 21 countr~es from allover the world took part in the Conference. Proceedings reflects the work of the Conference. Plenary lectures of J. Burzyk, J. F. Colombeau, W. Gahler, H. Keiter, H. Komatsu, B. Stankovic, H. G. Tillman, V. S. Vladimirov provide an up-to-date account of the cur rent state of the subject. All these lectures, except H. G. Tillman's, are published in this volume. The published communications give the contemporary problems and achievements in the theory of generalized functions, in the theory of convergence structures and in their applications, specially in the theory of partial differential equations and in the mathematical physics. New approaches to the theory of generalized functions are presented, moti vated by concrete problems of applications. The presence of articles of experts in mathematical physics contributed to this aim. At the end of the volume one can find presented open problems which also point to further course of development in the theory of generalized functions and convergence structures. We are very grateful to Mr. Milan Manojlovic who typed these Proce edings with extreme skill and diligence and with inexhaustible patience.
Book Synopsis Partial Inner Product Spaces by : J-P Antoine
Download or read book Partial Inner Product Spaces written by J-P Antoine and published by Springer. This book was released on 2009-12-08 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Partial Inner Product (PIP) Spaces are ubiquitous, e.g. Rigged Hilbert spaces, chains of Hilbert or Banach spaces (such as the Lebesgue spaces Lp over the real line), etc. In fact, most functional spaces used in (quantum) physics and in signal processing are of this type. The book contains a systematic analysis of PIP spaces and operators defined on them. Numerous examples are described in detail and a large bibliography is provided. Finally, the last chapters cover the many applications of PIP spaces in physics and in signal/image processing, respectively. As such, the book will be useful both for researchers in mathematics and practitioners of these disciplines.
Book Synopsis Encyclopaedia of Mathematics by : Michiel Hazewinkel
Download or read book Encyclopaedia of Mathematics written by Michiel Hazewinkel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-01 with total page 525 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF MATHEMATICS aims to be a reference work for all parts of mathe matics. It is a translation with updates and editorial comments of the Soviet Mathematical Encyclopaedia published by 'Soviet Encyclopaedia Publishing House' in five volumes in 1977-1985. The annotated translation consists of ten volumes including a special index volume. There are three kinds of articles in this ENCYCLOPAEDIA. First of all there are survey-type articles dealing with the various main directions in mathematics (where a rather fine subdivi sion has been used). The main requirement for these articles has been that they should give a reasonably complete up-to-date account of the current state of affairs in these areas and that they should be maximally accessible. On the whole, these articles should be understandable to mathematics students in their first specialization years, to graduates from other mathematical areas and, depending on the specific subject, to specialists in other domains of science, en gineers and teachers of mathematics. These articles treat their material at a fairly general level and aim to give an idea of the kind of problems, techniques and concepts involved in the area in question. They also contain background and motivation rather than precise statements of precise theorems with detailed definitions and technical details on how to carry out proofs and constructions. The second kind of article, of medium length, contains more detailed concrete problems, results and techniques.
Book Synopsis Boundary Values And Convolution In Ultradistribution Spaces by : Stevan Pilipovic
Download or read book Boundary Values And Convolution In Ultradistribution Spaces written by Stevan Pilipovic and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2007-07-20 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the construction and characterization of important ultradistribution spaces and studies properties and calculations of ultradistributions such as boundedness and convolution. Integral transforms of ultradistributions are constructed and analyzed. The general theory of the representation of ultradistributions as boundary values of analytic functions is obtained and the recovery of the analytic functions as Cauchy, Fourier-Laplace, and Poisson integrals associated with the boundary value is proved.Ultradistributions are useful in applications in quantum field theory, partial differential equations, convolution equations, harmonic analysis, pseudo-differential theory, time-frequency analysis, and other areas of analysis. Thus this book is of interest to users of ultradistributions in applications as well as to research mathematicians in areas of analysis.

Book Synopsis Constructions of Lie Algebras and their Modules by : George B. Seligman
Download or read book Constructions of Lie Algebras and their Modules written by George B. Seligman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-14 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with central simple Lie algebras over arbitrary fields of characteristic zero. It aims to give constructions of the algebras and their finite-dimensional modules in terms that are rational with respect to the given ground field. All isotropic algebras with non-reduced relative root systems are treated, along with classical anisotropic algebras. The latter are treated by what seems to be a novel device, namely by studying certain modules for isotropic classical algebras in which they are embedded. In this development, symmetric powers of central simple associative algebras, along with generalized even Clifford algebras of involutorial algebras, play central roles. Considerable attention is given to exceptional algebras. The pace is that of a rather expansive research monograph. The reader who has at hand a standard introductory text on Lie algebras, such as Jacobson or Humphreys, should be in a position to understand the results. More technical matters arise in some of the detailed arguments. The book is intended for researchers and students of algebraic Lie theory, as well as for other researchers who are seeking explicit realizations of algebras or modules. It will probably be more useful as a resource to be dipped into, than as a text to be worked straight through.
