Each module focuses on trauma preparedness underpinned by a review of psychophysiological, cognitive-affective, and social psychological theories related to stress, trauma, and resilience. The training format used scenarios and composite characters to provide a thorough evidence-based program of trauma informed psychoeducation and skill building and includes 94 slides in a PowerPoint presentation. The training was developed specifically to meet the needs of the Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP), a non-profit UCP organization, whose staff provided consultation and feedback for this project. More broadly, the training modules also provide a framework for trauma resilience training for those engaged in UCP and other humanitarian endeavors working in areas experiencing armed conflict.
