Book Synopsis Tourisme durable dans les îles by : ODIT-France
Download or read book Tourisme durable dans les îles written by ODIT-France and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis The Tourist Places of the World by : Philippe Violier
Download or read book The Tourist Places of the World written by Philippe Violier and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-04-28 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Formerly a largely Western practice, leisure travel is today the most dynamic industry in the world in terms of growth. Developments in transport and communication systems mean tourism is now an integral part of our understanding of the world, and involved in the exponential increase of links between societies and different cultures. The Tourist Places of the World has comprehensive data on the number of international visitors annually. It also includes an original map ? not dictated by country, but by major tourist areas and places. The hierarchy of destinations drawn is highlighted by the different levels of popularity and passenger flows; from the universal places where all societies meet to the still unfrequented places. Beyond the recognition of global tourism, the challenge is to understand how and why societies can achieve a better life through sustainable development, which encompasses social, economic and environmental dimensions.

Book Synopsis Cultural Tourism by : Hilary du Cros
Download or read book Cultural Tourism written by Hilary du Cros and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-04-19 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cultural Tourism remains the only book to bridge the gap between cultural tourism and cultural and heritage management. The first edition illustrated how heritage and tourism goals can be integrated in a management and marketing framework to produce sustainable cultural tourism. The current edition takes this further to base the discussion of cultural tourism in the theory and practice of cultural and heritage management (CM and CHM), under the understanding that for tourism to thrive, a balanced approach to the resource base it uses must be maintained. An ‘umbrella approach’ to cultural tourism represents a unique feature of the book, proposing solutions to achieve an optimal outcome for all sectors. Reflecting the many important developments in the field this new edition has been completely revised and updated in the following ways: New content on increasingly relevant topics including sustainability, climate change, the threat of de-globalization, overtourism and social media. New sections on experience creation, accessibility and inclusivity, as well as expanded material on creative industries and new management challenges. New international case studies and tried-and-tested assignment exercises have been added to every chapter. Written by experts in both tourism and cultural heritage management, this book will enable professionals and students to gain a better understanding of their own and each other’s roles in achieving sustainable cultural tourism. It provides a blueprint for producing top-quality, long-term cultural tourism products.

Book Synopsis Prince Edward Island & the Isles de la Madeleine by : Barbara Radcliffe Rogers
Download or read book Prince Edward Island & the Isles de la Madeleine written by Barbara Radcliffe Rogers and published by Hunter Publishing, Inc. This book was released on 2012-10-24 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is drawn from our much larger guide to all the Atlantic Provinces. Hiking, trout and salmon fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, cycling, kayaking, exploring, puffin spotting ? discover all these adventures and more in a world of pristine waters, rugged slopes, breathtaking seascapes, sophisticated cities, historic towns and remote wilderness areas. The book also offers details on the local wildlife, including moose, caribou, bears, seals and whales. Complete restaurant and hotel information. Photos and maps. In planning a trip to this area (somewhere I have never been) I used this book extensively. We enjoy hiking, kayaking and general sight-seeing. This book not only provided information on outdoor activities but also on lodging, dining and driving as well as the history of the areas. It provides a wealth of information and made our stay much more enjoyable than if we just went there not knowing anything. We brought it along and it was a very important reference for us as we toured the province. I highly recommend it. After reading several travel books, this was the best one and the only one we took on our trip. -- DM Dugan. This book is excellent. What I particularly liked was that it mentioned small walks that can be taken in the areas that we visited, as well as archeological sites and wildlife viewing areas, all in my areas of interest. -- Sheila Ferrari. We love eastern Canada and have traveled there many times. There are parts described in this books that we have not seen and would love to see. -- R. Satelmajer
