Book Synopsis Food control system assessment tool: Dimension B by : Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
Download or read book Food control system assessment tool: Dimension B written by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and published by Food & Agriculture Org.. This book was released on 2019-07-15 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main objective of the Food control system assessment tool is to propose a harmonized, objective and consensual basis to analyse the performance of a national food control system. It is intended to be used by countries as a supporting basis for self-assessment to identify priority areas of improvement and plan sequential and coordinated activities to reach expected outcomes, and by repeating the assessment on a regular basis, countries can monitor their progresses. The Tool is based on Codex principles and Guidelines for National Food Control Systems as well as other relevant Codex guidance for food control systems, which are referenced throughout the document. Its scope is given by the dual objectives quoted in Codex guidance for these systems: protect health of consumers and ensure fair practices in the food trade. Dimension B is part of the Food control system assessment tool and focuses on the processes and the outputs of the control activities inherent to a national food control system. It reviews the control functions exercised by CAs over Food Business Operators (FBOs), be it at domestic, import or export level, to guarantee food safety and quality for national consumers along the food chain and fair trade practices. It also maps the control functions and mechanisms at the overall food supply level, necessary to identify, monitor, predict and handle food safety hazards and emerging risks and to deal with food emergencies. The main mechanisms that should be in place include data collection programmes on food products (also referred to as monitoring programmes), data collection programmes on food-borne diseases (also referred to as surveillance programmes), as well as programmes aiming at managing food safety emergencies.
Book Synopsis Managing Maintenance Error by : James Reason
Download or read book Managing Maintenance Error written by James Reason and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-03-02 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Situations and systems are easier to change than the human condition - particularly when people are well-trained and well-motivated, as they usually are in maintenance organisations. This is a down-to-earth practitioner’s guide to managing maintenance error, written in Dr. Reason’s highly readable style. It deals with human risks generally and the special human performance problems arising in maintenance, as well as providing an engineer’s guide for their understanding and the solution. After reviewing the types of error and violation and the conditions that provoke them, the author sets out the broader picture, illustrated by examples of three system failures. Central to the book is a comprehensive review of error management, followed by chapters on:- managing person, the task and the team; - the workplace and the organization; - creating a safe culture; It is then rounded off and brought together, in such a way as to be readily applicable for those who can make it work, to achieve a greater and more consistent level of safety in maintenance activities. The readership will include maintenance engineering staff and safety officers and all those in responsible roles in critical and systems-reliant environments, including transportation, nuclear and conventional power, extractive and other chemical processing and manufacturing industries and medicine.

Book Synopsis Control of Forced Vibration in Machine Tool/metal Cutting Systems by : Theodore R. Comstock
Download or read book Control of Forced Vibration in Machine Tool/metal Cutting Systems written by Theodore R. Comstock and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This project is engaged in a program of research which is directed at the study of the mechanism of forced vibrations in machine tool-metal cutting systems. Analytical methods, test and specification techniques have been developed that should significantly aid machine tool manufacturers in the design of essentially vibration-free machine tools for given cutting operations. The types of disturbances which cause forced vibrations in machine tools are described and categorized. The detrimental effects upon performances, which these disturbances have during cutting operations, are discussed. An attempt is made to show that the problem of forced vibrations in metal cutting systems can be generalized and simplified to a very large extent. The analytical methods to be used in this general approach are developed, and the experimental results obtained therefrom are discussed. In order to accomplish the objectives of this program the study of the mechanism of forced vibrations was divided into two main areas. The first of these areas is concerned with the effects of forced vibration due to variations in cutting depth and disturbances from internal and external forces. The remaining phase of this program is concerned with the effects of forced vibration caused by the transmission of forces through the foundation. (Author).

Book Synopsis Sources and Control of Mechanical Vibrations Affecting Machine Tool Performance Quality by : Alfred Otto Schmidt
Download or read book Sources and Control of Mechanical Vibrations Affecting Machine Tool Performance Quality written by Alfred Otto Schmidt and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation of the internal and external sources of vibration in machining operations which impair the performance quality of conventional machine tools was conducted. Particular attention was give to the surface finish of workpieces and the deflection of specific machine tool components. A literature survey on machine tool vibrations was abstrated. All experimental work was carried out under such operating conditions as can be found in an average precision machine shop. The measuring instruments used were standard items except in the case of a special surface analyzer. Sources of mechanical vibrations in machine tools can be determined satisfactorily with limited instrumentation but a thorough understanding of machine tool functions and metal cutting technology is necessary. Forced and self-excited vibrations can occur simultaneously with both having a detrimental effect upon surface finish and dimensions. (Author).
