Book Synopsis Skirmish Red, White and Blue by : Edward C. Daily
Download or read book Skirmish Red, White and Blue written by Edward C. Daily and published by Turner Publishing Company. This book was released on 1992-01-01 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much about the Korean War still is hidden and much will long remain hidden. Nevertheless, an attempt was made by the author to give a historical account of the 7th Cavalry Regiment's activities during Occupation Duty in Japan after World War II and combat actions within the Korean War. This was accomplished by exploring all known official existing records in the National Military Archives, which have been quoted freely and very often verbatim to give a truthful view of events as they existed at that particular time. Throughout the years, the original records of the 7th Cavalry Regiment have suffered from many disasters. On March 30, 1952, a fire destroyed the regimental headquarters in Japan, and everything was burned except the regimental colors. To further complicate the matter, but to comply with orders, many valuable records were destroyed to accomplish what they thought was "cleaning out useless files." What this actually caused or created was the existence of incomplete and often inaccurate records. Perhaps this book will have an eye-opening effect for the reader and will stir memories and answer questions that still prevail or persist. For those who were there, survived the many struggles and hardships, and turned the tide of defeat to victory, I salute all of you. I apologize and ask forgiveness for any errors or omissions that annoy all of those who dare to analyze the confusion, the chaos of battle, to a smartly phrased story. —from the Preface
Download or read book Tenth Legion written by Tom Kelly and published by Tom Kelly, Inc.. This book was released on 2021 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tenth Legion has long been considered the greatest - and most hilarious - book on turkey hunting. Yet until now it was only available in a privately published edition. Many people who hunt turkeys do so with an attention to detail, a regard for strategy, tactics, and operations, and a disregard for personal comfort and convenience that ranks second only to war. As for all cultists, it never occurs to them that they may be anachronisms. Supremely unconscious of the rest of the world, blind and deaf to logic and reason, they walk along their different roads in step to the music of their different drums.

Download or read book Life Itself written by Roger Ebert and published by Grand Central Publishing. This book was released on 2011-09-13 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Named one of the 100 greatest film books of all time by The Hollywood Reporter, this singular, warm-hearted, inspiring look at life itself is "the best thing Mr. Ebert has ever written" (Janet Maslin, New York Times). "To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances. We must try. I didn't always know this, and am happy I lived long enough to find it out." Roger Ebert was the best-known film critic of his time. He began reviewing films for the Chicago Sun-Times in1967, and was the first film critic ever to win a Pulitzer Prize. He appeared on television for four decades. In 2006, complications from thyroid cancer treatment resulted in the loss of his abi)lity to eat, drink, or speak. But with the loss of his voice, Ebert became a more prolific and influential writer. And in Life Itself he told the full, dramatic story of his life and career. In this candid, personal history, Ebert chronicled it all: his loves, losses, and obsessions; his struggle and recovery from alcoholism; his marriage; his politics; and his spiritual beliefs. He wrote about his years at the Sun-Times, his colorful newspaper friends, and his life-changing collaboration with Gene Siskel. He shared his insights into movie stars and directors like John Wayne and Martin Scorsese. This is a story that only Roger Ebert could tell, filled with the same deep insight, dry wit, and sharp observations that his readers have long cherished,
