Download or read book Practicing Discernment Together written by Lon Fendall and published by . This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To discern is to hear and understand Gods voice as articulated by the Holy Spirit, resident within us. Discernment is a necessary precondition for faithfulness to Gods leadings. This is as true for groups as it is for individuals, which means it is true for congregations and businesses that want to obey Christ.Group discernment is an essential ingredient of anything that Christs followers seek to do together. Even the smallest Bible study group or informal gathering makes decisions. That decision making carries with it the potential of strengthening the spiritual depth of each member of the groupbut it also makes misunderstanding, division, and even the complete destruction of the group possible. We invite you into an exploration of the ways God wants to enrich, instruct, and guide groups of believers called into common endeavors....As those of us who have experienced the wonder and joy of this process can attest, decisions arrived at by discernment truly witness to the fact that God is God and that faithfulness is an amazing journey.from Practicing Discernment Together
Book Synopsis Once There Was a Way by : Bryce Zabel
Download or read book Once There Was a Way written by Bryce Zabel and published by Diversion Books. This book was released on 2017-12-05 with total page 359 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the award-winning author of Surrounded by Enemies, an alternative history novel that asks, What if the Beatles stayed together? We all know the tragic story by now. After seven years as the most popular rock-and-roll group the world has ever seen, the Beatles—torn apart by personal and creative differences—called it quits in 1970, never to play together again. The fact that their contemporaries like the Rolling Stones are still playing today makes their ending even more painful. Once There Was a Way: What if The Beatles Stayed Together? is a story of another reality, the one we wished had happened, where the Fab Four chose to work it out rather than let it be. This book is no mere fairy tale, but a chronicle crafted from the people and events of our own history, shaped to create a brand new narrative in which John, Paul, George, and Ringo find a way to stay friends and keep the band together. Imagine there were more. Lots more. It’s easy if you try. “We know the Beatles let it be, but what if they worked it out instead? This book gives life to every fan’s fantasy. It's a great new adventure full of twists and turns that never were, but might have been.”—Chris Carter, host, Breakfast with the Beatles & Chris Carter’s British Invasion (Sirius/XM Radio) “Hold on to your hats, folks. You’re in for quite a ride.”—Harry Turtledove, alternative history author, How Few Remain, on Surrounded by Enemies
Book Synopsis The Way of the Rose by : Clark Strand
Download or read book The Way of the Rose written by Clark Strand and published by Random House. This book was released on 2019-11-05 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens when a former Zen Buddhist monk and his feminist wife experience an apparition of the Virgin Mary? “This book could not have come at a more auspicious time, and the message is mystical perfection, not to mention a courageous one. I adore this book.”—Caroline Myss, author of Anatomy of the Spirit Before a vision of a mysterious “Lady” invited Clark Strand and Perdita Finn to pray the rosary, they were not only uninterested in becoming Catholic but finished with institutional religion altogether. Their main spiritual concerns were the fate of the planet and the future of their children and grandchildren in an age of ecological collapse. But this Lady barely even referred to the Church and its proscriptions. Instead, she spoke of the miraculous power of the rosary to transform lives and heal the planet, and revealed the secrets she had hidden within the rosary’s prayers and mysteries—secrets of a past age when forests were the only cathedrals and people wove rose garlands for a Mother whose loving presence was as close as the ground beneath their feet. She told Strand and Finn: The rosary is My body, and My body is the body of the world. Your body is one with that body. What cause could there be for fear? Weaving together their own remarkable story of how they came to the rosary, their discoveries about the eco-feminist wisdom at the heart of this ancient devotion, and the life-changing revelations of the Lady herself, the authors reveal an ancestral path—available to everyone, religious or not—that returns us to the powerful healing rhythms of the natural world.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Mission is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exist because worship doesn't. Worship is ultimate.' John Piper's contemporary classic draws on key biblical texts to demonstrate that worship is the ultimate goal of the church and that proper worship fuels missionary outreach. Piper offers a biblical defence of God's supremacy in all things, providing a sound theological foundation for missions. He examines whether Jesus is the only way to salvation and issues a passionate plea for God-centredness in the missionary enterprise, seeking to define the scope of the task and the means for reaching 'all nations'. Let the Nations Be Glad! is a trusted resource for missionaries, pastors, church leaders, youth workers, seminary students, and all who want to connect their labours to God's global purposes. This third edition has been revised and expanded throughout and includes new material on the 'prosperity gospel'.

Book Synopsis Walking Together on the Way: Learning to Be the Church - Local, Regional, Universal by :
Download or read book Walking Together on the Way: Learning to Be the Church - Local, Regional, Universal written by and published by SPCK. This book was released on 2018-12-06 with total page 77 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Walking Together on the Way is the first agreed statement of the third phase of the Anglican-Roman Catholic International Commission, and the first ARCIC agreed statement since 2005. The language of 'walking together' is used by both Archbishop Justin Welby and Pope Francis to describe our ecclesial life and the ecumenical journey. Both have also, in different ways, endorsed the approach of receptive ecumenism: that we have much to learn and much to receive from each other. In Walking Together on the Way the Commission asks what Anglicans and Catholics can learn from one another to make us better able to walk together in the way of communion. Both our communions have an understanding that all the baptized share in the threefold office of Christ as prophet, priest and king. The document considers how this common understanding is lived out in our processes of governance and discernment at the local, regional and global levels. The Commission not only examines our respective ecclesial processes of discernment, but also seeks to identify the tensions and difficulties we experience; it asks where Angicans and Catholics can look to one another for wisdom. In this way, the Commission proposes, we can grow together through a journey of mutual enrichment. As the text affirms, 'We are pilgrims together walking on the way of penitence and renewal towards full communion.'
