Book Synopsis Bradt Travel Guide - Abruzzo by : Luciano Di Gregorio
Download or read book Bradt Travel Guide - Abruzzo written by Luciano Di Gregorio and published by Bradt Travel Guides. This book was released on 2013 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Situated in the centre of Italy, Abruzzo lies just an hour's drive from Rome. Often overlooked, it has never been discovered by mass tourism. Abruzzo has something for everyone: hiking on the slopes of the Majella mountain range, wine tasting along olive-strewn roads that disappear into the labyrinths of ancient towns, shopping through the sunny, pastel streets of Pescara or skiing on the highest peaks of the central Apennines. This updated guide explores towns and villages well off the beaten track. It also goes into greater depth on the region than its competitors, with more detail on the history, culture and sights, and more opinionated and entertaining reviews of hotels and restaurants.
Book Synopsis Building a Past by : Delia Torres Aryan
Download or read book Building a Past written by Delia Torres Aryan and published by Youcanprint. This book was released on 2022-04-12 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marcello Cossu L'Abbate was born in Rome in 1934. Between 1942 and 1946 he drew his family life in Rome. When the 50th anniversary of the end of the war was celebrated, he published "L'Immagine e L'Immaginario" ("The Image and the Imagery"), a book that includes some of these drawings, his memories, comments and the circumstances accompanying them. Here we can conjecture the ways of apprehending the policies of silencing and extermination that were taking place within the sociopolitical framework of the time, and in the family climate of commitment to the suffering of citizens deported, shot and disappeared. "L'Immagine e L'Immaginario" is a valuable testimony to the life of Marcello and his contemporaries during World War II. It is a re-actualization of those experiences and a lively reflection about them, which gives rise to new forms of historical and personal understanding. It is a retrospective elaboration. It is not the mere story of an experience that is performed by an eyewitness. In the drawings and comments there is an interpretation of facts that brings us closer to the understanding of social phenomena.
