The ever increasing number of companies, molecules and brands will force the companies to have a good bonding with doctors. This bonding will come by fulfilling the customer's desire by giving exactly what he/ she wants in terms of knowledge, communication, and updates on recent innovations. In this study the researcher have made an effort to understand the same. If industry understands how to satisfy their customer it will helpful for developing a long lasting relationship with their customer. The purpose of the study is to develop a simple framework for finding out the impact of the different kind of promotional tools offered by pharmaceutical industry on the prescribing behavior of doctors.

Influence is heavily depends on how the sales person promote their brands. The main conclusion of this study is that there are two factors which impact a lot than any other factor i.e. one is New Drug in market and the promotional tools.

At the same time, however, the United States is facing the vexing challenge of a seemingly uncontrolled rise in the cost of health care. Total medical expenditures are rapidly approaching 20 percent of the gross domestic product and are crowding out other priorities of national importance. The use of increasingly expensive prescription drugs is a significant part of this problem, making the cost of biopharmaceuticals a serious national concern with broad political implications. Especially with the highly visible and very large price increases for prescription drugs that have occurred in recent years, finding a way to make prescription medicinesâ€"and health care at largeâ€"more affordable for everyone has become a socioeconomic imperative. Affordability is a complex function of factors, including not just the prices of the drugs themselves, but also the details of an individual's insurance coverage and the number of medical conditions that an individual or family confronts. Therefore, any solution to the affordability issue will require considering all of these factors together. The current high and increasing costs of prescription drugsâ€"coupled with the broader trends in overall health care costsâ€"is unsustainable to society as a whole. Making Medicines Affordable examines patient access to affordable and effective therapies, with emphasis on drug pricing, inflation in the cost of drugs, and insurance design. This report explores structural and policy factors influencing drug pricing, drug access programs, the emerging role of comparative effectiveness assessments in payment policies, changing finances of medical practice with regard to drug costs and reimbursement, and measures to prevent drug shortages and foster continued innovation in drug development. Better understanding of the factors that motivate physician prescribing can bring about more efficient use of health care resources through the improved dissemination of information and more informed decision making. This paper attempts to provide a sound and inclusive review of the influences upon physician prescribing patterns in the extant literature. This review identifies several factors as being highly influential upon physician prescribing: peer influence, financial and managed care considerations, pharmaceutical representatives and drug samples, and direct-to-consumer advertising. To date, several key areas have not been well researched; these include the perceived price of a drug, the role of new technology, and the impact of physician experience. Based upon the literature review, a theoretical model of individual physician prescribing in the outpatient setting is proposed. Further research might be directed toward determining the influence of each factor upon physician prescribing and testing the overall model and interactions among its individual components.
