What she finds will keep her up at night—and it’s not the java jitters....

Download or read book Grenada Grinder written by Michael J. Couvillon and published by . This book was released on 2010-12 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On October 25, 1983, on orders from President Reagan, three AC-130H Spectre gunships flew combat missions in Operation Urgent Fury over the Caribbean island of Grenada. In their first operational live-fire outing since Vietnam, the gunships provided protective fire support and armed reconnaissance for two battalions from the Army's 75th Ranger Regiment making an airborne assault on the Point Salines Airport. Their primary objective was to rescue the U.S. citizens who were students at the nearby True Blue Campus of the St. George's University (SGU) School of Medicine. Flying non-stop from Hurlburt Field, FL, the gunships attacked with withering surgical firepower from their 20mm, 40mm, and 105mm guns to defeat small arms fire and silence Cuban and Grenadian anti-aircraft fire as the stream of MC-130 Combat Talon's and MAC C-130's airdropped the Rangers. After the airfield was secure, the Rangers and 82nd Airborne Division troops continued for the next seven days to pursue the enemy up the island toward the capitol, St. George's. The gunships provided "eye in the sky" armed reconnaissance with instant firepower available to them on request around the clock, eliminating several more key targets. The Spectre gunship's amazing performance at Grenada is an invaluable piece of Air Force history. This is not only a riveting account of the gunships as they "saved the day," it focuses on the gunship's weapon systems to explain how they work to get such awesome results.

Ask Jack Grubman, the All-Star telecom analyst from Salomon Smith Barney; uber-banker Frank Quattrone at CS First Boston; Morgan Stanley's Mary "Queen of the Net" Meeker; or Merrill Lynch's Henry Blodget. Well, they probably won't tell you anything. But have I got some great stories for you. Successful hedge fund manager Andy Kessler looks back on his years as an analyst on Wall Street and offers this cautionary tale of the intoxicating forces loose in the world of finance that overwhelmed sober analysis.

Download or read book The Grinding written by Matt Dinniman and published by . This book was released on 2013-10-17 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: COMING IN LATE SEPTEMBER 2013 Six months ago, the world watched in horror as we lost an American city. The Grinder. That's what the survivors of Tucson called the monster. Just one touch, and they became a part of it. It used their bodies as limbs and as weapons. In just a matter of hours, it became huge, a towering monstrosity made entirely out of tens of thousands of people and animals. This isn't behind-the-scenes bullshit from the point of view of the military. This isn't yet another conspiracy theory about what really happened to Air Force One that night, or about the decision to nuke Tucson. This is a rare, eyewitness account. But most importantly, it is the terrifying truth.
