Book excerpt: "He is the radiance of the glory of God..." - Hebrews 1:3The most glorious news in all of reality is that the God for whom we--and all things--exist is communicated to his creation with definitive authority in the incarnate Son (John1:14,18), and with climactic finality in the revelatory redemption of the cross (John 8:28, 17:1,5). Knowing and enjoying the One True God in the crucified and risen Jesus is the wellspring of our love (1 John 4:19), the substance of our sanctification (2 Corinthians 3:18), and the heart of eternal life (John 17:3), and this book is an attempt to help you do just that. "Full of Eyes" is a daily devotional containing 100 examples of visual exegesis. Each picture is designed to help you see, savor, and sing the beauty of God in his crucified and risen Son. As the Scripture in this book illuminates the pictures so that the pictures can shine back to exegete the Scripture, may you be ever more deeply enamored with the all satisfying excellence of who God has declared himself to be for us in Jesus.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Product Description: The somewhat pretentious title, "In the Shadow of Satan" might imply that this book is a philosophical dissertation on the subject of good and evil. It is not. It is a compilation of memories, first of a young boy, and then of a young adult, from the bloodiest period of 20th century Europe-during the days of the Second World War and Soviet occupation. These tragic events are described as seen through the young eyes of an eyewitness to history. This book does not pretend to furnish detailed information on the Jewish-as well as Christian-holocaust. Yet because the author lived daily in the shadow of those two satans-Nazism and communism-he startlingly reveals an even more true picture than contemporary writing could ever accomplish. Last year the author visited places that he described in this book-places of horror, of suffering, of inhumanity. In the August sunshine no trace of the awful past was visible. Those who lived through that satanic past can never escape its horror. The youth of today do not have a clue. This book must find its way to today's young intellectuals so that the horrors of the past are not repeated. Political correctness today skews the reality of the past. In this book one can see that people of different walks of life, nationalities and ethnic backgrounds were both good and evil. In the gloom of despair-in some instances unprecedented-human nobility flowered like beautiful white lilies on stagnant black water. The American people-even professional historians-have quite limited information on the events which took place in Poland in the years 1939-1989. This simple tale provides a realistic picture of those days, and also shows that the human spirit is invincible and is able to survive and grow even in very difficult environments.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Framed by an understanding that the very concept of what defines the human is often influenced by Renaissance and early modern texts, this book establishes the beginning of the literary development of the satanic form into a humanized form in the seventeenth century. This development is centered on characters and poetry of four seventeenth-century writers: the Satan character in John Milton's Paradise Lost and Paradise Regained, the Tempter in John Bunyan's Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners and Diabolus in Bunyan's The Holy War, the poetry of John Wilmot, earl of Rochester, and Dorimant in George Etherege's Man of Mode. The initial understanding of this development is through a sequential reading of Milton and Bunyan which examines the Satan character as an archetype-in-the-making, building upon each to work so that the character metamorphoses from a groveling serpent and fallen archangel to a humanized form embodying the human impulses necessary to commit evil. Rosenfeld then argues that this development continues in Restoration literature, showing that both Rochester and Etherege build upon their literary predecessors to develop the satanic figure towards greater humanity. Ultimately she demonstrates that these writers, taken collectively, have imbued Satan with the characteristics that define the human. This book includes as an epilogue a discussion of Samson in Milton's Samson Agonistes as a later seventeenth-century avatar of the humanized satanic form, providing an example for understanding a stock literary character in the light of early modern texts.

Book excerpt: Pastor and author J. D. Greear reveals that the secret to a robust, passionate faith isn't getting all the right answers about God, but seeing God as the awesome, glorious, and infinite presence that He is. We like God small. We prefer a God who is safe, domesticated, who thinks like we think, likes what we like, and whom we can manage, predict, and control. A small God is convenient. Practical. Manageable. For us, thinking of God as so infinitely greater and wiser than we are and who would cause us to tremble in his presence is a leftover relic from an oppressive, archaic view of religion. But what if this small version of God we've created is holding us back from the greatest experience of our lives--from genuine, confident, world-transforming faith? In Not God Enough, J.D. reveals how to discover a God who: is big enough to handle your questions, doubts, and fears is not silent is worthy of worship wants to take you from boring to bold in your faith has a purpose and mission for you on earth is pursuing you right now The truth: God is big. Bigger than big. Bigger than all the words we use to say big. Only a God of infinite power, wisdom, and majesty can answer our deepest questions and meet our deepest longings. God is not just a slightly better, slightly smarter version of you. God is infinite and glorious, and an encounter with Him won't just change the way you think about your faith. It'll change your entire life.

This book was released on 2019-03-26 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Betrayed by the one they call "God," I was cast out for defending what I helped create against imperfection, and He condemned me to Hell for eternity to watch as those I love fall into the trench of eternal suffering, but I will soon seek my revenge--I have no other option but to tempt the souls of mankind into damnation in order to save them. It may be hard to believe, but we once lived in harmony together. His pride and arrogance led to the world becoming the vile and despicable place it is today, forcing me to challenge Him for dominion over the universe. I was defeated, so I was forced out of heaven, but I continue to fight Him in an endless war for every human soul. Souls equal power, and the more I collect, the closer I become to ensuring my victory against Him. With the fallen angels by my side, we've effectively instilled evil into every heart that walks the earth; there is not one soul that hasn't been tainted by our work, and soon, we will take back the throne and restore the world to its formerly perfect state. Through the Devil's Eyes is an 84,884-word Biblical Fiction/ Commercial Fiction / Historical Fiction/Action Adventure novel that chronicles the most significant events portrayed in the Christian Bible from the devil's perspective and shows there are two sides to every story. It is a tale of vengeance, hope, but mostly love, from a being thought to be a monster incapable of having such feelings.
