Says the sheriff made arrangements with Flucker prior to the war but now contends that he is not accountable for some of the money and does not owe interest on it. Will continue to investigate the matter and keep Knox informed. Asks Knox to remember that he is taking up his late father's business and therefore it will take him more time to learn the intricacies of the affair.
