Book Synopsis Models of Visual Attention Using Computational Cognitive Neuroscience in Machine Vision by : Manjunath R Kounte
Download or read book Models of Visual Attention Using Computational Cognitive Neuroscience in Machine Vision written by Manjunath R Kounte and published by Lulu Publication. This book was released on 2021-04-28 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vision is the most important of the five human senses, since it provides over 85% of the information our brain receives from the external world. Its main goal is to interpret and to interact with the environments we are living in. In everyday life, humans are capable of perceiving thousands of objects, identifying hundreds of faces, recognizing numerous traffic signs, and appreciating beauty effortlessly. The ease with which humans achieve these tasks is in no way due to the simplicity of the tasks but is a proof of the high degree of development of our vision system.

Book Synopsis Handbook on Soft Computing for Video Surveillance by : Sankar K. Pal
Download or read book Handbook on Soft Computing for Video Surveillance written by Sankar K. Pal and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2012-01-25 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information on integrating soft computing techniques into video surveillance is widely scattered among conference papers, journal articles, and books. Bringing this research together in one source, Handbook on Soft Computing for Video Surveillance illustrates the application of soft computing techniques to different tasks in video surveillance. Worldwide experts in the field present novel solutions to video surveillance problems and discuss future trends. After an introduction to video surveillance systems and soft computing tools, the book gives examples of neural network-based approaches for solving video surveillance tasks and describes summarization techniques for content identification. Covering a broad spectrum of video surveillance topics, the remaining chapters explain how soft computing techniques are used to detect moving objects, track objects, and classify and recognize target objects. The book also explores advanced surveillance systems under development. Incorporating both existing and new ideas, this handbook unifies the basic concepts, theories, algorithms, and applications of soft computing. It demonstrates why and how soft computing methodologies can be used in various video surveillance problems.

Download or read book Robot Vision written by Gerald Sommer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2008-01-29 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1986, B.K.P. Horn published a book entitled Robot Vision, which actually discussed a wider ?eld of subjects, basically addressing the ?eld of computer vision, but introducing “robot vision” as a technical term. Since then, the - teraction between computer vision and research on mobile systems (often called “robots”, e.g., in an industrial context, but also including vehicles, such as cars, wheelchairs, tower cranes, and so forth) established a diverse area of research, today known as robot vision. Robot vision (or, more general, robotics) is a fast-growing discipline, already taught as a dedicated teaching program at university level. The term “robot vision” addresses any autonomous behavior of a technical system supported by visual sensoric information. While robot vision focusses on the vision process, visual robotics is more directed toward control and automatization. In practice, however, both ?elds strongly interact. Robot Vision 2008 was the second international workshop, counting a 2001 workshop with identical name as the ?rst in this series. Both workshops were organized in close cooperation between researchers from New Zealand and Germany, and took place at The University of Auckland, New Zealand. Participants of the 2008 workshop came from Europe, USA, South America, the Middle East, the Far East, Australia, and of course from New Zealand.

Book Synopsis Self-organising Software by : Giovanna Di Marzo Serugendo
Download or read book Self-organising Software written by Giovanna Di Marzo Serugendo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-09-15 with total page 465 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Self-organisation, self-regulation, self-repair and self-maintenance are promising conceptual approaches for dealing with complex distributed interactive software and information-handling systems. Self-organising applications dynamically change their functionality and structure without direct user intervention, responding to changes in requirements and the environment. This is the first book to offer an integrated view of self-organisation technologies applied to distributed systems, particularly focusing on multiagent systems. The editors developed this integrated book with three aims: to explain self-organisation concepts and principles, using clear definitions and a strong theoretical background; to examine how self-organising behaviour can be modelled, analysed and systematically engineered into agent behaviour; and to assess the types of problems that can be solved using self-organising multiagent systems. The book comprises chapters covering all three dimensions, synthesising up-to-date research work and the latest technologies and applications. The book offers dedicated chapters on concepts such as self-organisation, emergence in natural systems, software agents, stigmergy, gossip, cooperation and immune systems. The book then explains how to engineer artificial self-organising software, in particular it examines methodologies and middleware infrastructures. Finally, the book presents diverse applications of self-organising software, such as constraint satisfaction, trust management, image recognition and networking. The book will be of interest to researchers working on emergent phenomena and adaptive systems. It will also be suitable for use as a graduate textbook, with chapter summaries and exercises, and an accompanying website that includes teaching slides, exercise solutions and research project outlines.
