Book Synopsis Thermocouples by : Daniel D. Pollock
Download or read book Thermocouples written by Daniel D. Pollock and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-05-04 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thermocouples: Theory and Properties provides the basis for the examination and explanation of thermoelectric phenomena and their correlations with other physical properties. These results are applied and account for the properties and deviations of commercial materials in the temperature ranges of most common industrial usage. This book is written expressly for non-scientists and is an effective tool for the busy technician or engineer working with thermoelectric thermometry in metallurgical, chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, and food processing areas. It is also beneficial for use in quality control and research and development applications. The book provides more than the usual superficial presentations of thermoelectric properties; it explains the ""why"" as well as the ""how"" and ""what"" of thermoelectric behaviors. These answers are important because only a suitable combination of theory and practice can lead to the understanding required for optimum thermometric applications under the multitude of applications encountered in industry and science.

Book Synopsis Radiation Errors in Air Ducts Under Nonisothermal Conditions Using Thermocouples, Thermistors, and a Resistance Thermometer by : Joseph C. Davis
Download or read book Radiation Errors in Air Ducts Under Nonisothermal Conditions Using Thermocouples, Thermistors, and a Resistance Thermometer written by Joseph C. Davis and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Studies were made to determine the radiation error in temperature measurements made with thermocouples, thermistors, and a resistance thermometer in moving air at velocities ranging from 300 to 1300 fpm when the temperature of the duct wall surrounding the air stream was from 0 to 50 deg F higher than that of the air in the center of the duct. To eliminate all but the variable under study, conduction errors were minimized to a point where they were almost nonexistent by using Chromel P-constantan thermocouple wire and by employing other techniques. Radiation effects were studied when the probe housing the three types of temperature sensors was unshielded and again when it was shielded. Under the test conditions that prevail in the testing of air conditioners and heat pumps in laboratories, it should be possible to reduce the error in temperature measurement of the moving air to about 0.2 deg F by a suitable combination of air mixers, duct insulation, radiation shields, and calibration techniques. Book Synopsis NASA Contributions to Development of Special-purpose Thermocouples. A Survey by : Calvin Eugene Moeller
Download or read book NASA Contributions to Development of Special-purpose Thermocouples. A Survey written by Calvin Eugene Moeller and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In modern industry the thermocouple plays an important role in temperature instrumentation. The increasing need for temperature measurements in extreme environments has produced significant advancements in thermo couple technology; much of this technology has come from research in the aerospace and atomic energy areas. This survey reviews developments resulting from work performed by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and its contractors. The main thrust of the survey is to encourage non-aerospace applications of the results of aerospace research.

Book Synopsis Measuring Soil and Tree Temperatures During Prescribed Fires with Thermocouple Probes by : Stephen S. Sackett
Download or read book Measuring Soil and Tree Temperatures During Prescribed Fires with Thermocouple Probes written by Stephen S. Sackett and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 720 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soil and cambium temperatures must be known to ascertain certain effects of prescribed fires on trees. Thermocouple-based systems were devised for measuring soil and cambium temperatures during prescribed fires. The systems, which incorporate both commercially available and custom components, perform three basic functions: data collection, data retrieval, and data translation. Although the systems and procedures for using them were designed for research purposes, they could be adapted for monitoring operational prescribed fires.
