Download or read book Transmission and Distribution Electrical Engineering written by Colin Bayliss and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2006-12-18 with total page 1039 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dramatic power outages in North America, and the threat of a similar crisis in Europe, have made the planning and maintenance of the electrical power grid a newsworthy topic. Most books on transmission and distribution electrical engineering are student texts that focus on theory, brief overviews, or specialized monographs. Colin Bayliss and Brian Hardy have produced a unique and comprehensive handbook aimed squarely at the engineers and planners involved in all aspects of getting electricity from the power plant to the user via the power grid. The resulting book is an essential read, and a hard-working reference for all engineers, technicians, managers and planners involved in electricity utilities, and related areas such as generation, and industrial electricity usage. * An essential read and hard*working ref

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents the main methods used for thermal properties measurement. It aims to be accessible to all those, specialists in heat transfer or not, who need to measure the thermal properties of a material. The objective is to allow them to choose the measurement method the best adapted to the material to be characterized, and to pass on them all the theoretical and practical information allowing implementation with the maximum of precision.
Book Synopsis Research on Electrical Conductors for High Temperature Applications by : Martin A. Gimpl
Download or read book Research on Electrical Conductors for High Temperature Applications written by Martin A. Gimpl and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dispersion-hardened alloys of Pt, Au, and Cu containing ThO2 and Al2O3 were made and tested. The allows were developed and fabricated in wire form in order to provide high temperature electrical conductor materials providing improved mechanical properties with a minimal loss in electrical conductivity. The alloys were made by precipitating the elements from solution containing a suspension of the oxide phase. The precipitate deposited on the oxide particle and produced a dispersion of good homogeneity. Mechanical properties and electrical resistivities were measured as a function of temperature to 1000 C. The dispersion hardening caused only negligible (

Book Synopsis Thermoelectricity in Metallic Conductors by : J. Blatt
Download or read book Thermoelectricity in Metallic Conductors written by J. Blatt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first International Conference on Thermoelectric Properties of Metallic Conductors was held at Michigan State University on August 10-12, 1977. The conference was sponsored and supported by the National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research and the Ford Motor Company. Although the topic may appear, at first glance, rather narrow and of limited interest, it impacts significantly on numerous fields of research, in each instance providing a unique and fru- ful technique for securing important data that is frequently difficult to obtain by other means. Thus, though thermoelectricity is the thread that binds these pages together, the papers constitute a patchwork quilt that includes critical phenomena, superconductivity, many-body theory, quasi one-dimensional systems, liquid metals, to mention only a few. This volume contains the 12 invited and 31 contributed papers, arranged in the order in which they were presented, as well as much of the frequently spirited and always illuminating discussion that followed these papers. Regrettably, not all of the discussion is included. Difficulties with the recording system during the first session (Wednesday morning) did not become apparent before the end of that session, and, consequently, none of the discussion--some of it fairly heated--appears in the proceedings; other remarks were lost to posterity through occasional malfunctioning of the record ing facilities and/or failure of speakers to come near a microphone.
