Book excerpt: No one really likes talking or thinking about the "Job experience", but what do you do when you find yourself there? What do you do when all hell has seemingly broken loose in your life? What do you do when all your days are dark as night and there is no apparent light in view? Job still trusted in God and never judged Him as unjust during this season in his life. Will you remain faithful when God considers you to be tested? Can you agree with Job, though He slays me, yet will I trust in Him? I have been commissioned to encourage you not to lose hope during your night season. You have been chosen through the furnace of an affliction to be blessed. You have been chosen through opposition to endure, you have been chosen to walk into the promises of God, if you faint not in the day of adversity. Just stand still and see the salvation of the Lord. Trust God and know He is working it all out for your good. As believers, you will experience a night season during your lifetime, but remember God is on your side. It is at those times of difficulty, you will discover God to be faithful! The word of God declares that light and darkness are the same to him; he is God of the night as well as the day. He only wants you to totally trust and obey and put your HOPE in him. "This I recall to my mind therefore I have hope. It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him." Lamentations 3: 21-24

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is at the darkest hour that Jesus always walks in. I have four examples to share with you from the Bible. Jesus told His disciples to go ahead and that He will meet them on the other side of the lake. When He had finished praying, there were no more boats, so he decided to walk on the sea. In the meantime, there was a storm and the disciples were affected. They were worried that they saw something walking on the sea. They thought it was a ghost coming. They found out it was the Lord coming. He came to them and said they should fear not. God is telling you today fear not. In the darkest hour of the storm of life, Jesus will come walking in and rebuke the storm that trouble your life, and the storm will calm. We have the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. The furnace they threw them into was seven times hotter than normal, they expected God to do something but He did not do it when they think they needed God's assistance and they became disappointed, immediately they landed in the fiery furnace, the Son of God was there waiting for them. It was when the heat was at its peak that the Prince of Peace came to rescue them. Jesus met a man who had been laying by the pool of Bethsaida for 38 years, he had believed God for a miracle for more than 38 years, and he was no longer expecting any miracle. There are many of us like that; we have believed God for healing for so long and healing has not come; we are only in Christ because there is nowhere else to go. This was the situation of this man, when the Great Physician came and his day came, he received his healing. When the hour seems very dark and there is no hope, Jesus Christ steps in. He will only intervene in your situation, only if you invite him, If you call on him and ask him to do something about your dry bones, he will order life back into them because wherever Jesus is, you can be sure that Holy Spirit, because is the author of life and it does not matter what is dead or for how long it has been dead.

Book excerpt: A Gospel-Rich, Reproducible Model for Making Disciples as Jesus Intended Biblical discipleship emphasizes encouragement, repentance, and spiritual growth—essential parts of the Christian life. However, well-meaning believers often struggle to follow Jesus, unaware their views are too legalistic, licentious, or individualistic. How can churches and Christians develop a healthy, successful path to disciple-making? In this second edition of Gospel-Centered Discipleship, Jonathan Dodson presents an effective, Spirit-led model for sanctification. Reminding readers that real discipleship is imperfect yet transformational, Dodson encourages Christians to engage more authentically with others as they grow in faith. Drawing from his own failures and successes while following Jesus, Dodson defines discipleship, describes the heart of a disciple, and gives practical guidance for mentor and peer-based discipleship as Jesus intended. Revised and Expanded: Includes three new chapters and new illustrations Applicable: Shows how discipleship can be practical and gospel-centered Theological: Addresses the Holy Spirit's involvement in discipleship Foreword by Matt Chandler: Author of The Explicit Gospel

Book excerpt: “[A] landmark book . . . Solnit illustrates how the uprisings that begin on the streets can upend the status quo and topple authoritarian regimes” (Vice). A book as powerful and influential as Rebecca Solnit’s Men Explain Things to Me, her Hope in the Dark was written to counter the despair of activists at a moment when they were focused on their losses and had turned their back to the victories behind them—and the unimaginable changes soon to come. In it, she makes a radical case for hope as a commitment to act in a world whose future remains uncertain and unknowable. Drawing on her decades of activism and a wide reading of environmental, cultural, and political history, Solnit argues that radicals have a long, neglected history of transformative victories, that the positive consequences of our acts are not always immediately seen, directly knowable, or even measurable, and that pessimism and despair rest on an unwarranted confidence about what is going to happen next. Now, with a moving new introduction explaining how the book came about and a new afterword that helps teach us how to hope and act in our unnerving world, she brings a new illumination to the darkness of our times in an unforgettable new edition of this classic book. “One of the best books of the 21st century.” —The Guardian “No writer has better understood the mix of fear and possibility, peril and exuberance that’s marked this new millennium.” —Bill McKibben, New York Times–bestselling author of Falter “An elegant reminder that activist victories are easily forgotten, and that they often come in extremely unexpected, roundabout ways.” —The New Yorker
