This book was released on 2012-04-27 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computation should be a good blend of theory and practice, and researchers in the field should create algorithms to address real world problems, putting equal weight on analysis and implementation. Experimentation and simulation can be viewed as yielding to refined theories or improved applications. The Workshop on Computation: Theory and Practice (WCTP)-2011 was the first workshop organized jointly by the Tokyo Institute of Technology, the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research–Osaka University, the University of the Philippines Diliman, and De La Salle University–Manila devoted to theoretical and practical approaches to computation. The aim of the workshop was to present the latest developments by theoreticians and practitioners in academe and industry working to address computational problems that can directly impact the way we live in society. This book comprises the refereed proceedings of WCTP-2011, held in Quezon City, the Philippines, in September 2011. The 16 carefully reviewed and revised full papers presented here deal with biologically inspired computational modeling, programming language theory, advanced studies in networking, and empathic computing. .

This book was released on 2001-01-18 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Intelligence with its roots in Fuzzy Logic, Neural Networks and Evolutionary Algorithms has become an important research and application field in computer science in the last decade. Methodologies from these areas and combinations of them enable users from engineering, business, medicine and many more branches to capture and process vague, incomplete, uncertain and imprecise data and knowledge. Many algorithms and tools have been developed to solve problems in the realms of high and low level control, information processing, diagnostics, decision support, classification, optimisation and many more. This book tries to show the impact and feedback between theory and applications of Computational Intelligence, highlighted on selected examples.

Download or read book Proceedings of the IFIP TC 11 23rd International Information Security Conference written by Sushil Jajodia and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-07-30 with total page 702 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These proceedings contain the papers selected for presentation at the 23rd Inter- tional Information Security Conference (SEC 2008), co-located with IFIP World Computer Congress (WCC 2008), September 8–10, 2008 in Milan, Italy. In - sponse to the call for papers, 143 papers were submitted to the conference. All - pers were evaluated on the basis of their signi?cance, novelty, and technical quality, and reviewed by at least three members of the program committee. Reviewing was blind meaning that the authors were not told which committee members reviewed which papers. The program committee meeting was held electronically, holding - tensive discussion over a period of three weeks. Of the papers submitted, 42 full papers and 11 short papers were selected for presentation at the conference. A conference like this just does not happen; it depends on the volunteer efforts of a host of individuals. There is a long list of people who volunteered their time and energy to put together the conference and who deserve acknowledgment. We thank all members of the program committee and the external reviewers for their hard work in the paper evaluation. Due to the large number of submissions, p- gram committee members were required to complete their reviews in a short time frame. We are especially thankful to them for the commitment they showed with their active participation in the electronic discussion.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational Intelligence: An Introduction, Second Edition offers an in-depth exploration into the adaptive mechanisms that enable intelligent behaviour in complex and changing environments. The main focus of this text is centred on the computational modelling of biological and natural intelligent systems, encompassing swarm intelligence, fuzzy systems, artificial neutral networks, artificial immune systems and evolutionary computation. Engelbrecht provides readers with a wide knowledge of Computational Intelligence (CI) paradigms and algorithms; inviting readers to implement and problem solve real-world, complex problems within the CI development framework. This implementation framework will enable readers to tackle new problems without any difficulty through a single Java class as part of the CI library. Key features of this second edition include: A tutorial, hands-on based presentation of the material. State-of-the-art coverage of the most recent developments in computational intelligence with more elaborate discussions on intelligence and artificial intelligence (AI). New discussion of Darwinian evolution versus Lamarckian evolution, also including swarm robotics, hybrid systems and artificial immune systems. A section on how to perform empirical studies; topics including statistical analysis of stochastic algorithms, and an open source library of CI algorithms. Tables, illustrations, graphs, examples, assignments, Java code implementing the algorithms, and a complete CI implementation and experimental framework. Computational Intelligence: An Introduction, Second Edition is essential reading for third and fourth year undergraduate and postgraduate students studying CI. The first edition has been prescribed by a number of overseas universities and is thus a valuable teaching tool. In addition, it will also be a useful resource for researchers in Computational Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence, as well as engineers, statisticians, operational researchers, and bioinformaticians with an interest in applying AI or CI to solve problems in their domains. Book excerpt: Following the success of the International Symposium on Software Security 2002 (ISSS 2002), held in Keio University, Tokyo, November, 2002, ISSS 2003 was held in the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, on November 4–6, 2003. This volume is the collection of the papers that were presented at ISSS 2003. The proceedings of ISSS 2002 was published as LNCS 2609. Although the security and reliability of software systems for networked c- puter systems are major concerns of current society, the technology for software securitystillneedstobedevelopedinmanydirections.SimilartoISSS2002,ISSS 2003 aimed to provide a forum for research discussions and exchanges among world-leading scientists in the ?elds of both theoretical and systems aspects of security in software construction. The program of ISSS 2003 was a combination of invited talks and selected research contributions. It included the most recent visions and researches of the 9invitedspeakers,aswellas11contributionsofresearchesfundedbytheMEXT grant-in-aid for scienti?c research on the priority area “Implementation Scheme for Secure Computing” (AnZenKaken). We collected the original contributions after their presentation at the symposium and began a review procedure that resulted in the selection of the papers in this volume. They appear here in ?nal form. ISSS 2003 required a lot of work that was heavily dependent on members of the program committee, and sta?s and graduate students who participated in AnZenKaken. We sincerely thank them for their e?orts and time.
