Book Synopsis The Journal Articles Of Hermann Sasse by : Hermann Sasse
Download or read book The Journal Articles Of Hermann Sasse written by Hermann Sasse and published by New Reformation Publications. This book was released on 2016-11-30 with total page 763 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication of Sasse's RTR articles marks yet another milestone in the continued publication of the works of one of the great Lutheran theologians of the twentieth century. The RTR and Springfielder articles and the many book reviews presented in this volume have been all but inaccessible for decades. All of them bear witness to Sasse's deep knowledge of Church history, the New Testament, Luther, the Reformation, the Eastern Church, and Rome. Though writing as a very convinced confessional Lutheran, Sasse nevertheless affirms the breadth and scope of the Una Sancta. He dispels myths such as the "ancient undivided church" and untangles the riddles of Roman Catholicism with deepest respect and truth.

He utilizes an unparalleled range of ancient sources and offers a wealth of fresh insights. This magisterial commentary will be a valuable resource for New Testament professors and students, pastors, Acts scholars, and libraries.
Book Synopsis Crisis in Lutheran Theology, Vol. 1 by : John Warwick Montgomery
Download or read book Crisis in Lutheran Theology, Vol. 1 written by John Warwick Montgomery and published by New Reformation Publications. This book was released on 2018-01-27 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All Three volumes deal with the issue of biblical inerrancy (that the Bible is completely true and accurate, not only when it speaks to ideas of religious belief, but also when it speaks about factual elements of history and science, properly understood). This issue rocked the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod back in the late 1960s and early 1970s, prompting the release of the first two volumes. Volume one consists of essays by John Warwick Montgomery himself, and is addressed primarily to theologians. Volume two consists of an anthology by eight separate Lutheran contributors and is addressed to laymen as well as professional theologians. Volume 3 is new, never before published material and consists of essays by Dr. Montgomery outlining a new challenge along the same lines. Dr. Jeffery Kloha suggested a few years ago with the latest critical edition of the New Testament (Nestle-Aland 28th Edition), because of the interchangeability of some variant readings, that we now had a "plastic text". Dr. Montgomery goes up against this assertion with everything he has. Though obviously addressing themselves primarily to Lutheranism, the materials are, to a large degree, equally applicable to many of the other Christian communions and will be found to be extremely valuable in assessing the needs of a variety of denominations.

Book Synopsis Vessels of Wrath, Volume 1 by : Richard M. Blaylock
Download or read book Vessels of Wrath, Volume 1 written by Richard M. Blaylock and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2023-08-17 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hardening hearts. Blinding eyes. Sending deceitful spirits. Crafting vessels of wrath. Few will deny that certain biblical passages make claims about God that are difficult to accept. But perhaps the most troubling are the verses that describe God as influencing individuals or groups towards wicked behavior for the purpose of condemning them. What are readers to do with these texts? In Vessels of Wrath, Richard M. Blaylock tackles the thorny subject of divine reprobating activity (DRA). Through an exhaustive, biblical-theological study of the Old and New Testaments, Blaylock argues that the Bible does not present DRA as an insignificant or monolithic concept; instead, the biblical authors showcase both the significance and the complexity of DRA in a variety of ways. The book aims to help readers of the Bible to wrestle with the Scriptures so that they might come to better understand its testimony to this mysterious and awesome divine activity.
