Book Synopsis Polish Gliders by : Kazimierz Wojciech Chudzinski
Download or read book Polish Gliders written by Kazimierz Wojciech Chudzinski and published by Verlag für Technik und Handwerk. This book was released on with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gliders are the basis of aviation as we know it today, as they were the first devices with which people rose into the third dimension. Today they are only used as sports equipment, but they have reached a level of perfection that inspires everyone interested in aviation. Poland has always been one of the nations that have driven the development of gliders. Especially since the Second World War, Polish designers have created some of the most fascinating and successful gliders. Kazimierz Wojciech Chudzinski is a connoisseur of Polish aviation, and his special love belongs to gliders. In this first volume he has listed all the gliders built in Poland from 1945 to 1970. In this first volume he has listed all the gliders built in Poland between 1945 and 1970, described their history and collected impressive photographs, many of which have never been published before. The special feature, however, are the many detailed drawings of the individual gliders, which are also a valuable aid for the construction of model replicas. In addition to successful and legendary designs such as Mucha, Zefir and Foka, lesser known but no less interesting designs and project studies are also presented. Flying wing gliders and duck constructions are included as well as double hull machines and other unusual ideas. This book is an absolute must for anyone interested in gliding.
Book Synopsis Glider Pilots at Arnhem by : Mike Peters
Download or read book Glider Pilots at Arnhem written by Mike Peters and published by Casemate Publishers. This book was released on 2014-09-19 with total page 826 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The fierce struggle between the British 1st Airborne Division and the superior German forces in and around Arnhem is well documented. This book tells of the role played in the battle for Oosterbeek and the bridge at Arnhem itself by the men of the Glider Pilot Regiment (GPR). These men were already experienced soldiers who volunteered to join the airborne forces and take the fight to the Germans in a totally new regiment. The men of the GPR were predominantly SNCOs trained to fly wooden assault gliders into occupied territory. Once on the ground they were expected to go into battle with the troops they had delivered onto the Landing Zone. During the Arnhem operation they were involved in the initial defense of the LZs, before fighting house to house leading mixed groups of infantrymen, engineers and medics. In so doing they suffered extensive losses from which the Regiment never fully recovered. This book tells their story in their own words from the moment they landed on Dutch soil through the fierce fighting all around the ever shrinking perimeter until the survivors of the GPR proudly marked the route out for the battered survivors of 1st Airborne Division as they escaped over the Rhine.
Book Synopsis Secret Wings of World War II by : Lance Cole
Download or read book Secret Wings of World War II written by Lance Cole and published by Pen and Sword. This book was released on 2015-06-30 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many myths and legends surrounding the advanced German aeronautical technology of the Second World War. There are also facts and proven events. Yet within these stories and behind these facts lie conspiracy theories, mistaken assumptions and denials that seem to contradict the evidence. So what really happened? How far ahead were the German scientists? And, of even greater interest, why and how???There have been other books about advanced German wartime aeronautics, yet few authors have fully examined the detail of the designs and their relevance to the fighter and bomber legends of the 1950s and '60s, let alone the current crop of military and civil all-wing or blended-wing aircraft. This book charts the story from it origins, through current-day innovations and beyond, into the all-wing future of tomorrow.
