This book was released on 2024-05-06 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modernity or modernism as a system of thought purporting to be enlightened and universal, has brought with it a crisis of values and a secular perspective that has undermined its own foundations and is provoking a universalized state of existential angst or anomie and moral anarchy. This treatise provides a reading of the Qur’anic view of man as insan against a background of the preoccupations of modernity. The author critiques the rapid devolution of society divorced from spiritual tradition in the modern context. The emphasis is on rationality, freedom, and morality and the goal is the reintegration of man and the recovery of community through a reconciliation of self and the rediscovery of the essential meaning of divine guidance in so far as it relates to human life in this world. Taking the Qur’an as a divine discourse of many tiers and depths, the work singles out aspects of the discourse on creation and takes it as a pivot for developing a view of moral man and moral community, with the focus remaining on the former. The main message is one of relevance, urgency, and opportunity. The urgency and the opportunity lie with man, and the relevance shines through the light of the eternal message and comes from God.

Dr. Michael K. Onyekwere, SDV The Conflicting Influence of the Christian Messages in Igboland examines how the homogeneity of a people called the Igbos was destroyed. What they held as sacrosanct degenerated under conflicting and pluralistic Christian messages, thereby replicating the Babel experience in Genesis. With this book, Rev. Fr. Dr. Michael K. Onyekwere, SDV wishes to draw readers’ attention to identify the reasons why there is a breakdown of the values that gave identity to Igboland, threatening their identity as one people. He hopes to offer some solutions and leave some room for further work to be done in the area of conflict management and ecumenism.
Book Synopsis Beating the Odds by : Anselm Nwaorgu
Download or read book Beating the Odds written by Anselm Nwaorgu and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2008-05 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beating the Odds takes the teaching of Matthew, Chapter 25 and develops it into eight practical principles for living a successful life that can ultimately lead to material and spiritual abundance. In life, we give a lot of weight to the words of a dying man. Christ, realizing that he was about to be crucified, delivers his last teachings through the three parables in Matthew 25 and shares divine guidance on how to beat the odds in life and maximize benefits both on earth and in heaven. He illustrated how people excel or fall short in the face of similar conditions and circumstances, indicating that success or failure depends on whether or not we make purposeful choices. Reverend Father Anselm Nwaorgu dissects God's word and provides the framework that allows you to apply these eight principles to your own material and eternal becoming. You will learn how to: Tap into opportunities Overcome difficulties on the path of life's journey Co-create your own material and spiritual abundance Deal with negative people and influences Create positive affirmation and call your dreams into reality Connect to humanity through productive giving and achieve eternal bliss. Beating the Odds teaches you through God's promises that choices, not chance, determine our destiny and what we do when faced with these opportunities is what truly matters.

Book Synopsis Islam, Modernity, and the Human Sciences by : A. Zaidi
Download or read book Islam, Modernity, and the Human Sciences written by A. Zaidi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2011-05-09 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ali Zaidi discloses a largely unnoticed dialogue between Muslim and Western social thought on the search for meaning and transcendence in the human sciences. This disclosure is accomplished by a comparative reading of Muslim debates on secular knowledge on the one hand and of Western debates on the putative death of metaphysics in the human sciences on the other hand. The analysis is grounded in dialogical hermeneutics; that is, a hermeneutic approach to texts and cultural traditions that draws upon the work of Hans-Georg Gadamer and upon the insights of inter-religious dialogue.
