Later, he received training in Missions at Rhema Bible College. At age 31, during a routine day surgery, he found himself on the 'other side of the veil' with Jesus. Book excerpt: The dramatic failure of the potato crop in mid-19th century Europe caused widespread hunger and distress. In Ireland the impact was probably the greatest, where a million people died and many more emigrated. In this book, Austin Bourke seeks to explain how, from being welcomed originally as a protection against hunger, the potato became the very emblem of famine. The text brings together the author's papers, essays and research spanning a 30-year period. It places the onset of potato blight in its European and American context and reconsiders the role of English ministers and their attempt to stem the disaster.
Book Synopsis Revivals Visitations And Moves Of God by :
Download or read book Revivals Visitations And Moves Of God written by and published by All Peoples Church & World Outreach, Bangalore, India. This book was released on 2021-07-01 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revival is bringing something that is dead back to life. Much of today’s Church needs reviving. When God comes in an unusual way, releasing His presence and power over and above what a church normally experiences, we call it a visitation of God. Every visitation of God should become a habitation of God and become a move of God, going beyond that local church into the community, city, and nation. The move of God results in evangelization, missions, and the fulfilling of the Great Commission. Starting in the book of Acts and down through the centuries, there have been numerous visitations and moves of God. We look at Church history. Understanding history helps us correctly interpret the present and prepare for the future. We draw inspiration, insight, and lessons from what God has done in the past, by reviewing stories, and asking relevant questions: What can we learn from Church history about revivals, visitations, and moves of God? What does it take for a visitation of God to become a move of God? What are signs of a genuine visitation of God? How do we steward a revival, a visitation, and a move of God? The “latter rain” falls just before harvest. “Therefore, be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand” (James 5:7-8). In biblical context, the early rains were showers that usually came during October-November and prepared the ground for the seed. The latter rain fell during March-April and was necessary for the ripening of the crops before harvest. If we believe God is preparing for a mighty endtime outpouring, a great visitation, and ingathering of harvest before His return, then we must get ourselves and our congregations ready for the latter rain of the Holy Spirit. Download or read book All In written by Pat Gohn and published by Ave Maria Press. This book was released on 2017-03-03 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What’s the one thing that defines your life and brings you the most good, the most love? Pat Gohn knows what her one thing is: “More than any single factor in my life, belonging to Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church has had the greatest impact on me. Faith gives meaning to everything in my life.” In this passionate and unapologetic account of why her faith in Christ and the Catholic Church are the source of meaning and joy in her life, Gohn—popular speaker, retreat leader, catechist, and author of Blessed, Beautiful, and Bodacious—invites you to become more confident in the power of the Catholic faith to transform your life as well. Being a cradle Catholic, cancer survivor, wife, and mother are all a part of Gohn’s story. But in this appealing, personal book, she shares why her relationship with Jesus and her confidence in his Church are so much bigger than her medical diagnosis, more powerful than her family history, and more significant than her career path. Gohn ardently shares why belonging to the Church will strengthen and nurture your relationship with God. It will keep you connected with Jesus and the sacraments—conduits of grace, forgiveness, healing, wisdom, and renewal. Belonging to the Church connects you to millions of others around the world, to the saints, and to your loved ones in heaven. These relationships are at the heart of Catholicism. In this time when life and society are so fragmented, the joy of belonging to a community—as imperfect as it can be—easily outweighs the agony of separation or isolation. Gohn’s confidence in her faith emerged despite and even out of a struggle with disillusionment. Working in a parish when news of the sex abuse scandals broke in Boston, she confronted heartbreak and anger within herself and her fellow parishioners. Yet she never left the Church and relates how she found a way to dig deeper and discover reasons to stay faithful. Each of the nine chapters identifies a dimension of the Catholic faith that is a source of Gohn’s confidence, including the Incarnation, God’s plan, the Fatherhood of God, the friendship of the Holy Spirit, and the love of neighbor. Each chapter also features reflection questions to challenge you.
