This book was released on 2006 with total page 107 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication is intended for financial aid administrators and counselors who help students begin the student aid process--filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), verifying information, and making corrections and other changes to the information reported on the FAFSA. This guide contains the following chapters: (1) The Application Process: FAFSA to ISIR, which explains that the laws governing the FSA programs require that a person apply for aid with a form provided by the Department of Education and that no fee be charged for processing it. Students can fill out a paper FAFSA or they can apply electronically; (2) Filling Out the FAFSA, which provides guidance that supplements the application instructions, and discusses some of the more difficult questions that may arise; (3) Expected Family Contribution (EFC), which describes the EFC formula in detail; (4)Verification, which provides a list and discussion of required verification items; and (5) Corrections, Updates, and Adjustments, which recognizes that there are situations where the original application information may need to be changed such as when errors need to be corrected, when dependency status, or household size changes, or when an aid administrator makes an adjustment based on professional judgment. A Verification Worksheet is included in this document.
