Download or read book Gas Lasers written by Masamori Endo and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lasers with a gaseous active medium offer high flexibility, wide tunability, and advantages in cost, beam quality, and power scalability. Gas lasers have tended to become overshadowed by the recent popularity and proliferation of semiconductor lasers. As a result of this shift in focus, details on modern developments in gas lasers are difficult to find. In addition, different types of gas lasers have unique properties that are not well-described in other references. Collecting expert contributions from authorities dealing with specific types of lasers, Gas Lasers examines the fundamentals, current research, and applications of this important class of laser. It is important to understand all types of lasers, from solid-state to gaseous, before making a decision for any application. This book fills in the gaps by discussing the definition and properties of gaseous media along with its fluid dynamics, electric excitation circuits, and optical resonators. From this foundation, the discussion launches into the basic physics, characteristics, applications, and current research efforts for specific types of gas lasers: CO lasers, CO2 lasers, HF/DF lasers, excimer lasers, iodine lasers, and metal vapor lasers. The final chapter discusses miscellaneous lasers not covered in the previous chapters. Collecting hard-to-find material into a single, convenient source, Gas Lasers offers an encyclopedic survey that helps you approach new applications with a more complete inventory of laser options.
Book Synopsis Asymptotic Theory of Separated Flows by : Vladimir V. Sychev
Download or read book Asymptotic Theory of Separated Flows written by Vladimir V. Sychev and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1998-08-28 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Boundary-layer separation from a rigid body surface is one of the fundamental problems of classical and modern fluid dynamics. The major successes achieved since the late 1960s in the development of the theory of separated flows at high Reynolds numbers are in many ways associated with the use of asymptotic methods. The most fruitful of these has proved to be the method of matched asymptotic expansions, which has been widely used in mechanics and mathematical physics. There have been many papers devoted to different problems in the asymptotic theory of separated flows and we can confidently speak of the appearance of a very productive direction in the development of theoretical hydrodynamics. This book will present this theory in a systematic account. The book will serve as a useful introduction to the theory, and will draw attention to the possibilities that application of the asymptotic approach provides.

This book was released on 2024-09-18 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fiber-reinforced composites have been widely applied in different industrial areas. This book focuses on the recent advances, new perspectives, and applications of different fiber-reinforced composites, such, as ceramic-matrix composites, fiber-reinforced concrete, wood–plastic composites, and so on. The design, fabrication, and application of fiber-reinforced composites are related to the high mechanical properties and nondestructive damage monitoring techniques. The experimental and damage monitoring method can reveal the internal damage evolution process inside of the fiber-reinforced composites and improve the operation reliability and safety of the composites and components. The book can help composite researchers better understand the engineering application, mechanical behavior, and damage detection of fiber-reinforced composites.

Book Synopsis Coherent Doppler Wind Lidars in a Turbulent Atmosphere by : Viktor Banakh
Download or read book Coherent Doppler Wind Lidars in a Turbulent Atmosphere written by Viktor Banakh and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2013-09-01 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiophysical tools for measuring atmospheric dynamics include sodars, Doppler radars, and Doppler lidars. Among these, coherent Doppler lidars (CDLs) have been considered the best for remote measurement of wind turbulence. This is important not only for understanding the exchange processes in the boundary layer, but also in the applied aspect, such as aviation safety. CDLs significantly extend possibilities of experimental investigation of not only wind turbulence, but also coherent structures such as aircraft wake vortices. The authors of this book conducted field tests of the developed methods of lidar measurements of the wind velocity, atmospheric turbulence parameters, and aircraft wake vortices. This valuable resource, containing over 500 equations based on original results from the authors’ work, gives professionals a comprehensive description of the operating principles of continuous wave and pulsed coherent Doppler lidars. This book studies the possibilities of obtaining information about wind turbulence from data measured by continuous wave and pulsed CDLs. The procedures for estimation are described, as well as algorithms for numerical simulation. Results on the vortex behavior and evolution are then presented.
