Book excerpt: Matured Creation - Finely Tuned Earth The concept of a matured creation and a finely tuned Earth is a fascinating topic that has sparked much debate in the realms of science, religion, and philosophy. Proponents of this idea argue that the universe and the Earth were created in a state of maturity and perfection, with all the necessary conditions for life to thrive. One of the key arguments for a matured creation is the idea of fine-tuning in the universe. This concept suggests that the fundamental physical constants and laws of nature are precisely calibrated to allow for the existence of life as we know it. For example, if the strength of gravity or the electromagnetic force were even slightly different, life as we know it would not be possible. This level of precision has led some to suggest that a higher power must have orchestrated the creation of the universe with the express purpose of allowing life to flourish on Earth. Moreover, the Earth itself is viewed as a finely tuned machine that provides the perfect conditions for life. From the composition of the atmosphere to the distance of our planet from the sun, everything seems to be finely calibrated to allow for the existence of living organisms. The intricate ecosystems that exist on Earth further demonstrate the complexity and harmony of this finely tuned planet.

Book excerpt: Life Origin - Black Hole – God The origins of life, the mysterious nature of black holes, and the idea of a higher power or God have long fascinated humans. The question of how life originated on Earth has puzzled scientists for centuries. These topics have sparked numerous debates, discussions, and theories among theologians, and philosophers alike. We attempt to unravel the mysteries of the universe. We will delve into the Creation, the scientific and the philosophical perspectives on the origins of life, the enigmatic nature of black holes, and the fact of the Creator. While each of these subjects is distinct in their own right, there are interesting connections that can be drawn among them. Black holes, on the other hand, are some of the most enigmatic objects in the universe. These dense regions of spacetime have such strong gravitational pulls that not even light can escape them. Scientists have long been intrigued by black holes and continue to study them to unlock their secrets. While black holes are thought to form from the collapse of massive stars, there is still much that remains unknown about these mysterious objects. The existence of God is a topic that has been debated for centuries. The question of whether a higher power, or deity, exists has divided people for millennia. Some argue that the complexity and beauty of the universe point to an intelligent designer, while others believe that the laws of nature are sufficient to explain the workings of the cosmos. The existence of God is a deeply personal and philosophical question that continues to captivate believers and skeptics alike.

Book excerpt: Bestselling author and acclaimed physicist Lawrence Krauss offers a paradigm-shifting view of how everything that exists came to be in the first place. “Where did the universe come from? What was there before it? What will the future bring? And finally, why is there something rather than nothing?” One of the few prominent scientists today to have crossed the chasm between science and popular culture, Krauss describes the staggeringly beautiful experimental observations and mind-bending new theories that demonstrate not only can something arise from nothing, something will always arise from nothing. With a new preface about the significance of the discovery of the Higgs particle, A Universe from Nothing uses Krauss’s characteristic wry humor and wonderfully clear explanations to take us back to the beginning of the beginning, presenting the most recent evidence for how our universe evolved—and the implications for how it’s going to end. Provocative, challenging, and delightfully readable, this is a game-changing look at the most basic underpinning of existence and a powerful antidote to outmoded philosophical, religious, and scientific thinking.

Book excerpt: Creation – Big Bang – Science Fiction or Science Madness The debate between creationism and scientific theories of the origin of the universe has been an ongoing and contentious one. On one side, we have the belief in a divine Creator who is responsible for the creation of the world in six days, as described in the Bible. On the other side, we have scientific theories such as the Big Bang, which posits that the universe began with a massive explosion around 13.8 billion years ago. For those who adhere to the belief in a Creator, the concept of a six-day creation holds immense significance. This belief is rooted in faith and is a fundamental tenet of many religious traditions. The idea that a higher power carefully constructed the universe, day by day, is a source of comfort and meaning for many people. Some may argue that the Big Bang theory is nothing more than science fiction or science madness, dismissing it as a fanciful and unsubstantiated idea.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a world filled with scientific explanations and theories, it can be easy to lose sight of the ultimate truth of our existence. The truth is that the universe, with all its intricate complexities, did not come into being by mere chance or a random explosion. It was carefully designed and orchestrated by a higher power, a Creator who holds everything together. When we look up at the night sky and see the countless stars and galaxies stretching out into infinity, we cannot help but be in awe of the sheer magnitude and beauty of it all. The heavens declare the glory of God, as it says in the Bible, and remind us of the greatness of the one who made it all. The theory of the Big Bang, which posits that the universe began as a singular point and expanded over billions of years, is a flawed explanation for the origin of the universe. It fails to account for the intricate design and order that we see in the cosmos, as well as the existence of life on earth. The marvel of our planet Earth, with its perfect conditions for sustaining life, points to a Creator who had a purpose and a plan in mind when he made it. The countless galaxies and stars that we observe in the universe are a testament to the power and creativity of God. They show us that we are part of a vast and wondrous creation, one that was made by an intelligent designer who had a vision for it all. The theory of evolution, put forth by Charles Darwin, is another flawed explanation for the diversity of life on earth. It fails to explain the intricate complexities of living organisms and their unique design, as well as the existence of the human soul. It is clear that we are not the product of blind chance or random mutations, but rather the handiwork of a loving and powerful Creator. “The truth of the origin of the universe” points to a Creator who holds everything together and has a purpose and a plan for it all. God stretches out the heavens and allows light to reach us here on earth, showing us his care and provision for his creation. We are not the product of random chance or blind evolution, but rather the cherished creation of a loving God who made us in his image. Let us never forget the marvel and wonder of the universe, and the greatness of the one who made it all.

Book excerpt: Were the first scientists hermetic philosophers? What do these occult origins of modern science tell us about the universe today? The Forbidden Universe reveals the secret brotherhood that defined the world, and perhaps discovered the mind of God. All the pioneers of science, from Copernicus to Newton via Galileo, were inspired by Hermeticism. Men such as Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, Leibniz, Bacon, Kepler, Tycho Brahe - even Shakespeare - owed much of their achievements to basically occult beliefs - the hermetica. In this fascinating study, Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince go in search of the Hermetic origins of modern science and prove that not everything is as it seems and that over the past 400 years there has been a secret agenda behind our search for truth. From the age of Leonardo da Vinci, the influence of hermetic thinking upon the greatest minds in history has been hidden, a secret held by a forbidden brotherhood in search of the mind of God. Yet this search does not end in history but can be found in the present day - in the contemporary debates of leading evolutionists and thinkers. The significance of this hidden school can hardly be over-emphasised. Not only did it provide a spiritual and philosophical background to the rise of modern science, but its worldview is also relevant to those hungry for all sorts of knowledge even in the twenty-first century. And it may even show the way to reconciling the apparently irreconcilable divide between the scientific and the spiritual. Picknett and Prince go in search of this true foundation of modern rational thought and reveal a story that overturns 400 years of received wisdom.

Book excerpt: As science integrates the in-depth knowledge of the physical world accumulated over the past three centuries, it will be channeled into a new and exciting line of inquiry that acknowledges the expanded reality of consciousness as a creative force in the universe and the spiritual creative power embodied in our own minds. This book summarizes the thoughts of an inquisitive, but open-minded, scientist. What I present here is a theory that looks promising, not scientific proof. It should not be surprising, however, if some of what I propose coincides with theories propounded by others who claim a more intimate relationship with the Almighty. After all, if I am on the right track, and if they are, it would be worrisome if we were not, ultimately, in agreement. All I ask is that you seriously consider the logic of my theory, especially if it challenges you to question what you were taught - in Sunday school, in catechism or, dare I say, in physics class. I offer this book, not as a theological treatise, but as a short, readable exposition of a worldview that can bring sense and purpose into individual lives, and tolerance and peace to a planet whose future is in serious jeopardy - in large part because of the irrational dogmatism of both religion and science. If I am correct, we are literally all one being (God) in many individual forms. Why, then, would we continue to harm one another?

Book excerpt: Two world-renowned scientists present an audacious new vision of the cosmos that “steals the thunder from the Big Bang theory.” —Wall Street Journal The Big Bang theory—widely regarded as the leading explanation for the origin of the universe—posits that space and time sprang into being about 14 billion years ago in a hot, expanding fireball of nearly infinite density. Over the last three decades the theory has been repeatedly revised to address such issues as how galaxies and stars first formed and why the expansion of the universe is speeding up today. Furthermore, an explanation has yet to be found for what caused the Big Bang in the first place. In Endless Universe, Paul J. Steinhardt and Neil Turok, both distinguished theoretical physicists, present a bold new cosmology. Steinhardt and Turok “contend that what we think of as the moment of creation was simply part of an infinite cycle of titanic collisions between our universe and a parallel world” (Discover). They recount the remarkable developments in astronomy, particle physics, and superstring theory that form the basis for their groundbreaking “Cyclic Universe” theory. According to this theory, the Big Bang was not the beginning of time but the bridge to a past filled with endlessly repeating cycles of evolution, each accompanied by the creation of new matter and the formation of new galaxies, stars, and planets. Endless Universe provides answers to longstanding problems with the Big Bang model, while offering a provocative new view of both the past and the future of the cosmos. It is a “theory that could solve the cosmic mystery” (USA Today).

Book excerpt: We've all heard of the Big Bang, and yet few of us truly know what it is. Renowned for making difficult ideas much less difficult than they might first appear, Simon Singh is our perfect guide to explaining why cosmologists believe that the Big Bang is an accurate description of the origin and evolution of the universe. This highly readable and entertaining book tells the story of the many brilliant, often eccentric scientists who fought against the establishment idea of an eternal and unchanging cosmos. From such early Greek cosmologists as Anaximander to recent satellite measurements taken deep in space, Big Bang is a narrative full of anecdotes and personal histories. With characteristic clarity, Simon Singh tells the centuries-long story of mankind's attempt to understand how the universe came to be, a story which itself begins some 14 billion years ago (give or take a billion years). Simon Singh shows us that it is within the capability of all of us -- in his expert hands -- to understand the Big Bang: the fundamental theory in all of science, and a high point -- perhaps the high point -- of human achievement.

Book excerpt: From the Big Bang to the future of our planet, The Little Book of Big History divides history into manageable but comprehensive time frames, encompassing the cosmos, the stars, life and everything in between. Big History is the attempt to understand and condense the entire story of the cosmos, from the Big Bang to the current day. Combining methods from history, astronomy, physics and biology to draw together the big story arcs of how the universe was created, why planets formed and how life developed, this creates a unique perspective from which to understand the place of mankind in the universe. Excited by the alternative 'framework for all knowledge' that is offered by this approach, Bill Gates is funding the Big History Project, which aims to bring the subject to a wider audience around the world. The Little Book of Big History breaks down the main themes of Big History into highly informative and accessible parts for all readers to enjoy. By giving a truly complete timeline of world events, this book shines a whole different light on history as we learned it and makes us think of our history - and our future - in a very different way.

Book excerpt: The thesis of this book is to convey a solution to the physical origin of space-time, matter, the fundamental forces, and the mechanism of perception, by identifying a root from which there is a definite pathway to cognizing the underlying geometric cause from which all reality is therefrom based. This work lies between both physics and philosophy, and thus may be regarded in both categories, but more towards philosophy because such a powerful doctrine, which asserts the origin of the universe, is for now incapable of undergoing such definitive experimentation. A philosophy moreover on the framework to construct the correct equation of unification for physics is one major objective of this work; indeed there is constantly present the limited barrier of the mechanism of perception and idea, but, despite this fact, we may, without a doubt, still discover a route in order to make knowable the physical cause of nature. That besides, the doctrines which attempt to falsely represent such origins, namely those which propose to solve matter with more matter or space-time with extra space-time, or those which propose the opposite in that there is only consciousness and perception, all of which thus abandon the manifest quantities which are provided in reality. But in fact there is a new direction to which reason can turn in so far as to integrate what the former and latter propositions failed to do so, and this is to analyze the anatomic brain material as that which subsists exterior to the fabric of space-time, hence causality, and derive the prototypic geometric from which the extracted universe gains its shape and possibility in the first place.

In this volume, John Templeton and scientist Robert Herrmann address this paradox. Reviewing the latest findings in fields from particle physics to archaeology, from molecular biology to cosmology, the book leads the reader to see how mysterious the universe is, even to the very science that seeks to reduce it to a few simple principles. Far from concluding that religion and science are in opposition, the book shows how these two fields of inquiry are intimately linked, and how much they can offer to one another.
