The illustrations, which are mostly original, or have been carefully selected from the most faithful representations, are engraved in the best style by eminent artists, and will bear comparison with the most finished Specimens Of the art. They exhibit views of the most remarkable natural scenery, cities, colleges, &c These engravings will be found of great utility, conveying as they do a far better idea of the objects than could be derived from the most labored description. The directions for Travellers, printed in italics, and following the description Of each place, will prove very useful, especially the time of arrival and de parture of cars, steamboats, and stages at and from each place these, with the prices Of fare, have been arranged with the greatest care, and may be relied upon for their accuracy. The Railroads, with the Depots, and the distances between them, are shown in the Tables of Routes, and will also be found, together with all the Steamboat and Stage Routes, accurately delineated on the ac companying Map. Great labor has been bestowed in collating and adjusting, in the most minute manner, on the Map, a larger amount Of correct information than can be found in any similar work, in so condensed a form.
