Book Synopsis “The Time Is Fulfilled” by : Lynne Moss Bahr
Download or read book “The Time Is Fulfilled” written by Lynne Moss Bahr and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2018-12-27 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this study, Lynne Moss Bahr explores the concept of temporality as central to Jesus's proclamation of the Kingdom of God. Using insights from continental philosophy on the messianic, which expose the false claim that time progresses in a linear continuum, Bahr presents these philosophical positions in critical dialogue with the sayings of Jesus regarding time and time's fulfillment. She shows how the Kingdom represents the possibilities of a disruption in time, one that reveals the intrinsic relation between God and humanity. In illustrating how Jesus's sayings regarding time are thus expressions of his messianic identity-as of the world and not of the world--Bahr argues that the meaning of Jesus's identity as Messiah is embedded in the disjuncture of time, in the impossibility of "now," from which the Kingdom comes . Bahr's use of critical theory in this study expands the concept of God's Kingdom beyond the traditional confines of the discipline.

Book Synopsis The Time Is Fulfilled by : F. F. Bruce
Download or read book The Time Is Fulfilled written by F. F. Bruce and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2006-11-01 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Time is Fulfilled In this volume of essays, based on the 1977 Moore College lectures in Sydney, Australia, F. F. Bruce examines five examples of the fulfillment of the Old Testament in the New. In the first essay, from which the title of the book is taken, Bruce addresses Jesus' words in Mark 1:14Ð15: The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has drawn near; repent and believe the good news. Bruce stresses that in fulfilling the time Jesus is not merely responding passively to conditions favorable to the establishment of his kingdom; rather, he has decisively taken the initiative to inaugurate the fullness of time which he has announced. The remaining essays discuss other instances of the development of Old Testament themes in the New Testament: the ways in which the ministry of Jesus confirms the testimony of Moses; Abraham as the prototype of those elected by God; the notion of a shadow of good things to come (Heb. 10:1); and the spirit of prophecy (Rev. 19:10).
Book Synopsis The Time Is Fulfilled, End-Time Prophecy Has Already Started to Happen by : Dennis Callen
Download or read book The Time Is Fulfilled, End-Time Prophecy Has Already Started to Happen written by Dennis Callen and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-06-24 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Time Is Fulfilled, End-Time Prophecy Has Already Started to Happen Here’s What’s Coming Next Dennis Callen had a visitation twice by the presence of the Lord a few years ago, very early in the morning. At that time, the Lord revealed the correct and current interpretation of end-time prophecy, much of which is not the same as is taught today. Of all the books brother Callen has written, this book was the most unique for him in that, he says, it was like taking dictation from the Holy Spirit and not just writing it from his own understanding, research, or opinion. This is one book that will bring the reader up-to-date with current events as the end-time prophecy has recently played out and will show you the exact day the tribulation will start, for the time is at hand. This book is Not a repeat of what has already been written by other writers. In fact, you will find it to be completely different. “Five out of five stars scripturally accurate and easy to read and understand” (Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2019). Most end-time prophecy books I have read all say the same things. A lot of them are private interpretations, which 2 Peter 1:20 says we should stay away from. This book uses scripture to interpret scripture. I have never read anything like this before. It all makes biblical sense to me. I can see how the seals have been opened already. The results of the seals are on the television news almost every day. The Bible says we are to be simple concerning evil (Romans 16:19). So if the book of Revelation is about the tribulation only and all the evil that would take place after we are gone, then this would violate Romans 16:19. However, the book of Revelation is first about setting the stage for the move of God in the greatest revival the world has ever seen, plus the coming wrath of God found in Revelation chapter 16. I don’t know of any other book that is as accurate and exciting to read as this book. You can tell it has the same feel as reading the Bible. Every Christian needs to read this book. I highly recommend it. The book of revelation is taken verse by verse with a clear, easy-to-understand explanation. Of all the books that are out there, this is the only one I recommend highly.

Book Synopsis Sheltering Mercy by : Ryan Whitaker Smith
Download or read book Sheltering Mercy written by Ryan Whitaker Smith and published by Brazos Press. This book was released on 2022-02-08 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christianity Today 2023 Book Award Finalist (Bible & Devotional) Sheltering Mercy helps us rediscover the rich treasures of the Psalms--through free-verse prayer renderings of their poems and hymns--as a guide to personal devotion and meditation. The church has always used the Psalms as part of its prayer life, and they have inspired countless other prayers. This book contains 75 prayers drawn from Psalms 1-75, providing lyrical sketches of what authors Ryan Whitaker Smith and Dan Wilt have seen, heard, and felt while sojourning in the Psalms. While each prayer corresponds to a particular psalm and touches on its themes and ideas, it is not a new translation of the Psalms or an attempt to modernize or contextualize their content or language. Rather, the prayers are responses to the Psalms written in harmony with Scripture. These prayers help us quiet our hearts before God and welcome us into a safe place amid the storms of life. This artful, poetic, and classic devotional book features compelling custom illustrations and beautiful hardcover binding, offering a fresh way to reflect on and pray the Psalms.
Book Synopsis What Is the Gospel? by : Greg Gilbert
Download or read book What Is the Gospel? written by Greg Gilbert and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2010-03-09 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the gospel? It seems like a simple question, yet it has been known to incite some heated responses, even in the church. How are we to formulate a clear, biblical understanding of the gospel? Tradition, reason, and experience all leave us ultimately disappointed. If we want answers, we must turn to the Word of God. Greg Gilbert does so in What Is the Gospel? Beginning with Paul's systematic presentation of the gospel in Romans and moving through the sermons in Acts, Gilbert argues that the central structure of the gospel consists of four main subjects: God, man, Christ, and a response. The book carefully examines each and then explores the effects the gospel can have in individuals, churches, and the world. Both Christian and non-Christian readers will gain a clearer understanding of the gospel in this valuable resource.

But what does repentance look like? In this booklet, Dr. R.C. Sproul looks at several people in the Bible and how they give us a model of repentance. Dr. Sproul explains that true repentance is not simply a religious ritual or the resolve to do better next time. Rather, it's a spiritual conversion in which we turn from our sin and to God in faith. The Crucial Questions booklet series by Dr. R.C. Sproul offers succinct answers to important questions often asked by Christians and thoughtful inquirers.
Download or read book Mark written by Adrienne Von Speyr and published by Ignatius Press. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 730 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These meditations on the Gospel of Mark, with the exception of the second part on the Passion, were given by Adrienne von Speyr between 1945 and 1958 to members of the Community of St. John, which she founded with the renowned theologian, Fr. Hans Urs von Balthasar. Adrienne is speaking to young adults who have decided to live the state of the evangelical counsels in a secular profession, as part of a recently established secular institute. Nevertheless this contemplative commentary can be very useful for all who seek to meditate on Holy Scripture. As always, Adrienne here draws from the abundance of her own contemplation which keeps continually in view the harmonious unity of Christian dogmatic truth; she gives to others what has been offered to her in contemplation, without exegetical notes or any attempt at scholarship. Since she is speaking to novices, the train of thought is simple and practical, yet rich in depth. The points for meditation are not primarily for spiritual reading, but an introduction to personal prayer. They are meant only to point out a path, because it is the Holy Spirit who directs contemplative prayer in all liberty. As one reads through this book, he will find in it a kind of synthesis of Adrienne von Speyrs spirituality. This work will also be very useful to preachers, catechists, pastors, communities and institutes who have understood with Pope Benedict XVI that It is time to reaffirm the importance of prayer in the face of the activism and the growing secularism of many Christians engaged in charitable work.
