Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Routledge Handbook on Taxation and Philanthropy ventures into a territory that is still widely unexplored. It contains 30 academic contributions that aim to provide a better understanding of whether, why, and how philanthropic initiatives, understood as voluntary contributions for the common good, can and should be fostered by states through tax incentives. The topic has been addressed from a multidisciplinary and multicultural perspective-covering neuroeconomics, sociology, political science, psychology, affective sciences, philosophy, behavioral economy, and law-because of its global and multifaceted nature. It also contains the OECD report on Taxation and Philanthropy released in November 2020, which was prepared in this context as a result of a collaboration with the Geneva Centre for Philanthropy of the University of Geneva. The book is divided into four sections, exploring, respectively, the justification of tax incentives for philanthropy, theoretical and empirical insights about taxes, efficiency and donor behavior in that context, and tax incentives for cross-border philanthropy and for hybrid entities and social entrepreneurship. It is believed that this volume will be a landmark, yet only the beginning of a journey in which a lot remains to be studied, learned, and said"--

If you want your students to learn more and you to work less, then this book provides you with all the arguments and evidence you need to become a lazy, but outstanding teacher. Gathered over 10 years in the classroom, this handbook of tried-and-tested techniques shifts the emphasis away from the teaching and onto the learning, and makes your life so much easier in the process. Fed up missing out on those sunny Sundays? Maybe your marking could be done by the local community instead? Sick of planning lessons? Get the students to plan them for you. (After all, personalised learning can't involve 30 lesson plans!). This powerful book is packed full of easy-to-apply and highly effective strategies (which Ofsted have rated as 'outstanding' ). What's more, they all have the seal of approval of real students in real classrooms. In fact, many of them have been thought up by the students themselves, but that's why Jim Smith is called the Lazy Teacher. So, next time someone says to you to get a life, this book will make it possible.

Book excerpt: Employer's Tax Guide (Circular E) - The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), enacted on March 18, 2020, and amended by the COVID-related Tax Relief Act of 2020, provides certain employers with tax credits that reimburse them for the cost of providing paid sick and family leave wages to their employees for leave related to COVID‐19. Qualified sick and family leave wages and the related credits for qualified sick and family leave wages are only reported on employment tax returns with respect to wages paid for leave taken in quarters beginning after March 31, 2020, and before April 1, 2021, unless extended by future legislation. If you paid qualified sick and family leave wages in 2021 for 2020 leave, you will claim the credit on your 2021 employment tax return. Under the FFCRA, certain employers with fewer than 500 employees provide paid sick and fam-ily leave to employees unable to work or telework. The FFCRA required such employers to provide leave to such employees after March 31, 2020, and before January 1, 2021. Publication 15 (For use in 2021)

Book Synopsis Taxation by : Michael A. Livingston

Book excerpt: This publication differs from most existing tax casebooks the following ways: The book includes complete chapters on business, international, and estate and gift taxation, three areas of substantial importance that are historically left out of the basic tax course. The book places a strong emphasis on planning and policy, not as an adjunct to the more common legal materials, but as part of an integrated pedagogic approach. Each case or group of cases is followed by three different sets of problems--Using the Sources, Law and Planning, and Politics and Policy--which are designed to develop the student's law, planning, and policy analysis skills on a systematic basis. Excerpts from leading law review articles are included in each chapter so that students can understand for themselves the basic issues in tax policy and legislation. The book emphasizes current concerns in tax law and policy, issues and problems that are likely to confront the next generation of tax practitioners and policy-makers. Thus, substantial space is devoted to the new breed of tax shelters; the tax treatment of gay and unmarried couples; and the relationship of taxes to health, retirement, and environmental policy, without sacrificing the "classic" cases that are the backbone of any tax book. The text consists of twelve chapters, each containing all of the types of problems described above and concluding with an in-depth, take-home problem that may be used either as the basis for in-class discussion or as a graded written assignment. The book is accompanied by a comprehensive Teacher's Manual (available only to professors) that contains detailed answers for every question posed in the text, together with suggestions for discussion and debate topics.

Whether practitioners, CFOs, controllers or students, top U.S. accountants know it's essential to understand International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) thoroughly if they are advising their companies (or clients) who do business across borders. Likewise, non-U.S. accountants know they must now understand the nuances of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Global Accounting: 2021 and Beyond helps financial professionals worldwide understand the similarities and differences between US GAAP and IFRS. As a result, they're better equipped to advise foreign corporations operating in the U.S. and U.S. companies operating abroad. Written by Cecil K. Nazareth ACA, CPA, MBA, a widely-respected thought leader in international tax and accounting circles. A member of the AICPA's International Tax Issues Task Force Nazareth shares his three-decades of international tax and accounting expertise, with a heavy emphasis on small to midsize companies, subsidiaries of foreign parents, and high-net-worth individuals and families across the globe. He's a highly sought-after speaker and university professor for both national and international locations. Tax firms around the world call Cecil to conduct sessions for their teams. He's also the author of International Tax & Compliance Handbook (2018).
