Book Synopsis Shaping Your Child's Healthy Self-Esteem-Self-Worth by : Rose M. Ditto PhD
Download or read book Shaping Your Child's Healthy Self-Esteem-Self-Worth written by Rose M. Ditto PhD and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-04-22 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The greatest gift that can be given to a child during the early, formative years, is the encouragement and guidance to develop a healthy self-esteem/self-worth. Its development provides the child the probability of having self-respect, having respect for others, believing that they are a child of God, that they have a purpose in life, and that they are worthy. It affects relationships with friends, relationships within the family, relationships when attending school, relationships in the workplace, relationships while serving in leadership, and relationships in general during life. When healthy self-esteem/self-worth is not developed in the early formative years, it is difficult to develop later in life. It is not impossible but difficult. Habits and attitudes that are not favorable are likely to develop and are difficult to change. The parenting style in raising children is important, and this book gives research and support for the authoritative parenting style as being best. Parenting is the most important job we have in life. How we parent can shape a child's perception as to the importance for becoming a responsible, productive person

Book Synopsis Children of Immigrants by : National Research Council
Download or read book Children of Immigrants written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1999-11-12 with total page 673 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Immigrant children and youth are the fastest-growing segment of the U.S. population, and so their prospects bear heavily on the well-being of the country. Children of Immigrants represents some of the very best and most extensive research efforts to date on the circumstances, health, and development of children in immigrant families and the delivery of health and social services to these children and their families. This book presents new, detailed analyses of more than a dozen existing datasets that constitute a large share of the national system for monitoring the health and well-being of the U.S. population. Prior to these new analyses, few of these datasets had been used to assess the circumstances of children in immigrant families. The analyses enormously expand the available knowledge about the physical and mental health status and risk behaviors, educational experiences and outcomes, and socioeconomic and demographic circumstances of first- and second-generation immigrant children, compared with children with U.S.-born parents.
Book Synopsis Handbook Of The Sociology Of Youth In Brics Countries by : Tom Dwyer
Download or read book Handbook Of The Sociology Of Youth In Brics Countries written by Tom Dwyer and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2017-11-08 with total page 1141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Youth are, by definition, the future. This book brings initial analyses to bear on youth in the five BRICS countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, which are home to nearly half of the world's youth. Very little is known about these youth outside of their own countries since the mainstream views on 'youth' and 'youth culture' are derived from the available literature on youth in the industrialized West, which is home to a small part of the world's youth. This book aims to help fill in this gap.The handbook examines the state of youth, their past, present and permits the development of insights about future. The BRICS countries have all engaged in development processes and some remarkable improvements in young people's lives over recent decades are documented. However, the chapters also show that these gains can be undermined by instabilities, poor decisions and external factors in those countries. Periods of economic growth, political progress, cultural opening up and subsequent reversals rearticulate differently in each society. The future of youth is sharply impacted by recent transformations of economic, political and social realities. As new opportunities emerge and the influence of tradition on youth's lifestyles weakens and as their norms and values change, the youth enter into conflict with dominant expectations and power structures. The topics covered in the book include politics, education, health, employment, leisure, Internet, identities, inequalities and demographics. The chapters provide original insights into the development of the BRICS countries, and place the varied mechanisms of youth development in context. This handbook serves as a reference to those who are interested in having a better understanding of today's youth. Readers will become acquainted with many issues that are faced today by young people and understand that through fertile dialogues and cooperation, youth can play a role in shaping the future of the world.

Book Synopsis Serving Vulnerable and Marginalized Populations in Social and Educational Contexts by : Anies Al-Hroub
Download or read book Serving Vulnerable and Marginalized Populations in Social and Educational Contexts written by Anies Al-Hroub and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-04-26 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is evidence that the global COVID-19 crisis is exacerbating existing inequalities and marginalization of vulnerable groups, including exceptional learners, stateless, street, migrant, and refugee children and youths, and the limited use of frameworks of emergency planning with and for marginalized and at-risk individuals. These challenges are multi-sectoral and intersecting, and they require multi- and interdisciplinary interventions to inform inclusive responses. These issues include being at a greater risk of excluding vulnerable learners from gaining access to equitable education (online/remote and blended education). Intersecting forms of discrimination such as gender, socioeconomic and legal status further exacerbate the problem. This has alerted us to examine the living conditions of marginalized and vulnerable populations around the globe, and to reveal their experiences, problems, and needs from an educational perspective, thus bringing insights into their vulnerabilities during the pandemic.
