Book excerpt: In the "Second Coming of Christ a Majestic Moment," there has never been a more descriptive Bible based story of the wedding supper of the Lamb and His return to earth, charging towards it with countless thousands of saints in tow. 2 As the charge of heaven's troopers finally descended upon the perplexed soldiers of Armageddon their bewilderment then hastily triggered total disorder, within their very deranged and most confused ranks. 3 Then deepest travail soon began to sweep over them, while their brains were riddled with some real deep questions that none of them could ever begin to answer; 4 But it was also soon really clear that the Antichrist wouldn't have a chance to carry out his scheming plans; 5 And since our Living Promise finally showed up faster than he expected, all of that son of Satan's plans were then instantly blown away; 6 And as the vast armies of heaven entered into our planet's really thin atmosphere all of them knew that they would be locking horns with the follower's of Hell in a winner take all battle that would never really be fought. 7 And that epic Day of our Lord came forth exactly seven years after the golden trumpet finally signaled the glorious appearing of Christ, and the following second rapture of His very own. 8 Then it was undeniably heaven's most glorious hour of a long awaited victory, as well as Hell's fleeting moments of it's very swift defeat. 9 But it was additionally the time when Jude 1:14 would finally come to pass; For millions of thousands of saints were joyfully following behind Christ; 'twas also the real silent season when time itself seemingly stood still. 10 Then at the very moment of our exalted entry into earth's cloudy atmosphere, over the pitch black eastern skies, the four winds then instantly pulled back like they were never even there to begin with. 11 And that immediately allowed for heaven's portal to open way up, while allowing our majestic Author of Influence to swiftly ride on through along with His glowing army behind Him. 12 That was therefore the biggest climax of the ages, the highest peak of wonderful, and the very top of amazing, all rolled up together as one! Heads then shook with disbelief, while a multitude of tears from lost pitiful souls suddenly fell as rain.

In the first serious biography of Jesse James in forty years, T. J. Stiles paints a strikingly new and vivid portrait of the period before the American Civil War, during the conflict and its aftermath. With groundbreaking scholarship and dazzling reinterpretation, T. J. Stiles has refashioned one of the great legends of American history.

Book Synopsis The Second Coming of Paisley by : Richard Lawrence Jordan
Download or read book The Second Coming of Paisley written by Richard Lawrence Jordan and published by Syracuse University Press. This book was released on 2013-04-04 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second Coming of Paisley is the first book to examine the relationship between the Reverend Ian Paisley and leaders of the militant wing of evangelical fundamentalism in the United States in the period immediately preceding the outbreak of the Northern Ireland “Troubles” in the late 1960s. Jordan convincingly demonstrates that it was exposure to the ideas and principles of leaders of the Christian right such as Carl McIntire and Billy James Hargis that enabled Paisley to develop a militant brand of politicized religious fundamentalism that he used successfully to block the advance of civil rights for Northern Ireland’s Catholic population. This cross-fertilization happened not in a historical vacuum but in the context of several centuries of interaction and exchange between Ulster and North America. Drawing upon extensive archival research, Jordan provides a full background analysis and establishes a framework for understanding the extraordinary force with which Reverend Paisley used a religious culture imported from the United States to affect a radical shake-up of religion and politics in Northern Ireland. Shedding new light on the influence of evangelical fundamentalism, The Second Coming of Paisley will be indispensable for scholars interested in the influence of religion on politics.

The novel, inspired by the author's ten years studying in vain for the preisthood, follows the sometimes hilarious, sometimes tragic lives of a group of seminarians who realize they no longer believe the theology they are being taught, nor in the celibate life they are supposed to be leading. They resolve their problems in highly unusual ways, some tragicvally, some happily. Along the way readers encounter a rogue's gallery of colorful and eccentric characters. In the mix there is stuff about organic farming, alcohol distillation, cowboy philososphy, baseball and alternative medicine. This is a truly original work, and it is sure to be controversial.

Book Synopsis Jesse James was My Neighbor by : Homer Croy
Download or read book Jesse James was My Neighbor written by Homer Croy and published by Bison Books. This book was released on 1997 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Born in 1883, the year after Jesse James was killed by Bob Ford and buried in his mother’s backyard, Homer Croy grew up near the James farm in northwest Missouri. He talked with many old-timers who knew Jesse and Frank James and their remarkable mother, Zerelda. Eyewitness accounts (sometimes humorous) and Croy’s familiarity with the milieu that produced the outlaw brothers enrich Jesse James Was My Neighbor. Jesse read the Bible before he went out to rob a bank or train (Frank preferred Shakespeare), and he was honest except for those raids, according to Croy. The author follows the James boys, documenting their criminal activities and their human side while sorting out the growing legend. He adds a necrology of the twenty-eight bandits who rode with the James gang at one time or another.

Book excerpt: A powerful novel of the infamous Western outlaw and his killer: “The best blend of fiction and history I’ve read in a long while” (John Irving). By age thirty-four, Jesse James was already one of the most notorious and admired men in America. Bank robber, train bandit, gang leader, killer, and beloved son of Missouri— James’s many epithets live on in newspapers and novels alike. As his celebrity was reaching its apex, James met Robert Ford, the brother of a James gang member—an awkward, antihero-worshipping twenty-year-old with stars in his eyes. The young man’s fascination with the legend borders on jealous obsession: While Ford wants to ride alongside James as his most-trusted confidant, sharing his spotlight is not enough. As a bond forms between the two men, Ford realizes that the only way he’ll ever be as powerful as his idol is to become him; he must kill James and take his mantle. In the striking novel that inspired the film of the same name starring Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck, bestselling author Ron Hansen retells a classic Wild West story that has long captured the nation’s imagination, and breathes new life into the final days and ignoble death of an iconic American man.
