Book excerpt: In this first installment of the Orphan Saga trilogy, a spunky young monkey named Mysti escapes from a devious gang of rats and finds a new home among the rabbits of the idyllic Reanlands. Not knowing where she came from or where she belongs, she struggles for a time to adapt to a new way of life and integrate into the rabbits’ society—a challenge that is intensified by the Reanlanders’ distrust of strangers, and of monkeys in particular. With the support of new friends, Mysti perseveres to overcome these obstacles, and is finally embraced by the rabbits when her ingenuity saves them from a near-certain death. When Mysti speaks to the wise keeper of all rabbit lore, she discovers that the moonstone she has always worn around her neck is, in fact, a long-lost treasure very precious to the Reanlanders. She begins to realize that perhaps it was no accident that she wound up there—it may have been destiny calling her. But how long can Mysti evade recapture by the rats, who are certainly trying to track her down? And will her grit and determination be enough to save the Reanlanders again, when war and upheaval threaten to disrupt their peaceful lives?

Book Synopsis Magnetohydrodynamic Stability of Tokamaks by : Hartmut Zohm
Download or read book Magnetohydrodynamic Stability of Tokamaks written by Hartmut Zohm and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2015-02-09 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book bridges the gap between general plasma physics lectures and the real world problems in MHD stability. In order to support the understanding of concepts and their implication, it refers to real world problems such as toroidal mode coupling or nonlinear evolution in a conceptual and phenomenological approach. Detailed mathematical treatment will involve classical linear stability analysis and an outline of more recent concepts such as the ballooning formalism. The book is based on lectures that the author has given to Master and PhD students in Fusion Plasma Physics. Due its strong link to experimental results in MHD instabilities, the book is also of use to senior researchers in the field, i.e. experimental physicists and engineers in fusion reactor science. The volume is organized in three parts. It starts with an introduction to the MHD equations, a section on toroidal equilibrium (tokamak and stellarator), and on linear stability analysis. Starting from there, the ideal MHD stability of the tokamak configuration will be treated in the second part which is subdivided into current driven and pressure driven MHD. This includes many examples with reference to experimental results for important MHD instabilities such as kinks and their transformation to RWMs, infernal modes, peeling modes, ballooning modes and their relation to ELMs. Finally the coverage is completed by a chapter on resistive stability explaining reconnection and island formation. Again, examples from recent tokamak MHD such as sawteeth, CTMs, NTMs and their relation to disruptions are extensively discussed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a PDF based on the contents of a web site I’ve been working on for decades. I do not believe I will ever entirely finish it. But I wanted to make it available. Textual criticism is the process of recovering an ancient document from late and corrupt manuscript copies; New Testament Textual Criticism consists of trying to figure out what the New Testament originally said before scribes messed it up. Dedicated to Dr. Sally Amundson and Dr. Carol Elizabeth Anway and Lily. This version, from July 20, 2013, will probably be the last; the file is almost too large to edit.

Here, now, is The Fiery Cross, the eagerly awaited fifth volume in this remarkable, award-winning series of historical novels. The year is 1771, and war is approaching.
