Meanwhile, inside the Jokhang Temple, the country's President is worshiping the Buddha statue. Three years into the pandemic, the Chinese nation, ruled by a bloodthirsty empire, has completely fallen into the abyss of economic collapse, livelihood, and cultural decay. The masses with a troubled fate have fallen into a desperate situation, entering their darkest hour. With the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war, China is also poised to initiate a war slaughtering its people! Warriors from all social strata, striving for the freedom and democracy of the masses and the nation and for world peace, courageously uphold the sword of justice, armed with truth as their shield and armor. They march towards the battlefield for the rebirth of the people and the nation. Consequently, some find themselves imprisoned, and some penetrate deep into the Kremlin to cease the war, while others sacrifice their lives to rouse the evil demons in a bid to rescue the masses. The awakened populace ultimately embarks on a journey of non-violent resistance... In the land of Tibet, filled with pure faith, sinful souls are shaken by the truth of the Heavenly Dao, cleansed by the wisdom of the Tibetan people in harmony with nature, and saved by the Buddhist faith, full of universal truth and great compassion. The era when humanity attains the ultimate wisdom of the universe has finally arrived!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Through the ages there have been stories about people who have visited the abode of the death. These people, seers, and sages of different cultures, have reported what they have seen there. One of them was a Finnish spiritual teacher Pekka Ervast (1875-1934). This book contains Ervast's teachings on the afterlife: He tells of the phases and states people will undergo after they pass through the door of death. Ervast had a profound spiritual awakening at the age of twenty. He then became a pioneer of the Finnish theosophical movement. A brief outline of his life is available at https://theosophy.wiki/en/Pekka_Ervast. Ervast wrote and lectured regularly for over 30 years on the multitude of spiritual topics. Some of his books have been published in English: e.g., The Sermon on the Mount, or the Key to Christianity; "H. P. B.": Four Episodes from the Life of the Sphinx of the Nineteenth Century; The Key to the Kalevala; The Divine Seed: The Esoteric Teachings of Jesus.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pure Land movement focuses on the worship of one particular Buddha, Amitabha or Amitayus who created a paradise named Sukhavati, Land of Extreme Bliss. The scriptures of this school promise rebirth in that Land to the devotees of that Buddha. It was considered to be an "easy way" to gain salvation in contrast with the "arduous path" of self-sacrifice recommended in original Buddhism. T'ang monk Shan-tao was instrumental in the propagation and popularity of this devotional school. He was an ascetic and serious meditator who followed the techniques of visualization explained in the Sutra on Visualizing Buddha Amita, and his commentary on this text was later considered to be his most outstanding work. Western authors, however, misrepresent Shan-tao because they follow the lead of Japanese Jodo Shinshu masters who deemphasized meditative practices. With the hope that old stereotypes will be dropped, this book lets the Chinese texts speak for themselves.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book argues that Armenians around the world - in the face of the Genocide, and despite the absence of an independent nation-state after World War I - developed dynamic socio-political, cultural, ideological and ecclesiastical centres. And it focuses on one such centre, Beirut, in the postcolonial 1940s and 1950s.Tsolin Nalbantian explores Armenians' discursive re-positioning within the newly independent Lebanese nation-state; the political-cultural impact (in Lebanon as well as Syria) of the 1946-8 repatriation initiative to Soviet Armenia; the 1956 Catholicos election; and the 1957 Lebanese elections and 1958 mini-civil war. What emerges is a post-Genocide Armenian history of - principally - power, renewal and presence, rather than one of loss and absence.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Calling in the Soul” (Hu Plig) is the chant the Hmong use to guide the soul of a newborn baby into its body on the third day after birth. Based on extensive original research conducted in the late 1980s in a village in northern Thailand, this ethnographic study examines Hmong cosmological beliefs about the cycle of life as expressed in practices surrounding birth, marriage, and death and considers the gender relationships evident in these practices. The Hmong (or Miao, as they are called in China, and Meo, in Thailand) have lived on the fringes of powerful Southeast Asian states for centuries. Their social framework is distinctly patrilineal, granting little direct power to women. Yet within the limits of that structure, Hmong women wield considerable influence in the spiritually critical realms of birth and death. Calling in the Soul will be of interest to sociocultural anthropologists, medical anthropologists, Southeast Asianists, and gender specialists. Replaces ISBN 9780295800424

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The words “in the hope of nibbana” are often found printed on invitations to anniversaries or festival meals, sent by the Burmese to their friends. Early in the morning, monks are fed, followed by other invited friends who arrive for a good social meal together. All of this is done, as the invitation reassures, “in the hope of nibbana”. Thus does the ordinary Buddhist, himself far from nibbana, honor those who are striving, humbly hoping that his modest charitable efforts will somehow by the process of kammic multiplication add up to a nibbanic sum in the end. Such words characterize the Buddhist ethical endeavor. In the Hope of Nibbana offers a glimpse into the process of a "religion" and a culture struggling to align ethical values with the realities of the modern world. Buddhism is deeply woven into the fabric of life in Burma, now called Myanmar, and the country's insular history has made it an ideal place to experience Buddhism's influence on a culture and people.
