Book excerpt: Instead of using Acts as a prooftext for contemporary debates about speaking in tongues or church government, this New Studies in Biblical Theology volume offers a biblical-theological framework meant to expose Luke's own purposes and themes. We find that Luke wanted to be read in light of both the Old Testament promises and the reign of Christ in the inaugurated kingdom of God.

Book Synopsis The Risen: A Companion to Grief by : August Goforth
Download or read book The Risen: A Companion to Grief written by August Goforth and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2017-08-24 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information and the ways in which it is presented in this book evolves from a multitude of vibrantly complex yet deceptively subtle systems of interwoven Risen and Earthly cosmologies, psychologies, philosophies, sciences, mysticisms, witticisms; ancient and modern arts of drama and healing; child, animal, plant, and devic wisdom and humor. This book is designed to stimulate and help discover and explore your most personal feelings; it will be different for each reader. It is not a book of definite answers but of continuous consideration. Each of us is our own Inner Scientist, Architect, Conductor, and Taste Tester - exploring, discovering, observing, and gathering information while continually asking questions and puzzling about many things. Interpenetrating this book is an adjustable framework designed to support, adapt and guide. Embracing it is an orchestrated Risen performance of grace, offering to bring uplifted meaning to the temporary but often terribly empty and lonely darkness of our grief.
Book Synopsis The Spirit's Relation to the Risen Lord in Paul by : Mehrdad Fatehi
Download or read book The Spirit's Relation to the Risen Lord in Paul written by Mehrdad Fatehi and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 2000 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mehrdad Fatehi studies Paul's letters and shows that the risen Lord is featured in the religious experiences of Paul and the Pauline believers as the present and active lord of the new covenant community. These experiences seem to point beyond the notion of a divine agent alongside God to a redefinition of the very concept of God in a way that it would include Christ within itself . This is confirmed by the way Paul and the Pauline communities believed themselves to have experienced the risen Lord through God's Spirit. In Judaism in general, as well as in Paul, the Spirit was not regarded as an entity distinct or separable from God but as God himself in his presence and action in and among his people. Yet we have clear evidence in Paul's letters that the risen Christ was experienced and conceived of as being present and active through the Spirit bestowing grace and gracious gifts, infusing wisdom, communicating his will, regenerating and transforming his people, and dwelling in and among them all through the Spirit in a way which is best understood after the analogy of God's presence and work through the Spirit in Judaism. In other words, Paul's 'the Spirit of Christ' is best understood after the analogy of 'the Spirit of God'.Paul's application of the Spirit-language to describe and interpret the Christians' experiences of the risen Lord shows that Paul most probably presupposed a redefinition of monotheism in which Christ would be included within the Godhead.
