This method is now in use in nearly all the schools of Brooklyn; in many of which, marvelous results have been obtained. In those schools in which it has been mastered, the time formerly devoted to the acquirement of a reading vocabulary of two hundred words, now gives the children one of more than a thousand, while their enunciation is clearer, and their reading is more spirited and in every other respect better than formerly. Nor does the improve ment end here; for it is a matter of general observation where this method is employed, that in all their studies the pupils do far more to help themselves, than they did before its introduction.
