Book Synopsis Crystalline Electric Field and Structural Effects in f-Electron Systems by : Jack E. Crow
Download or read book Crystalline Electric Field and Structural Effects in f-Electron Systems written by Jack E. Crow and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 618 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Perhaps the title of this conference "Ctystalline Electric Field and Structural Effects in f-Electron Systems" reflects best the growth and direction of the field. The title and the conference itself go beyond "CEF" in two broad and important respects. First, the inter-relations between CEF and mode softenings, distortions due to quadruplar ordering or the Jahn Teller effect, have gained greater focus, hence the inclusion of . •• "Structral Effects. " Second, much greater emphasis on the actinides and, in particular, comparisons between actinides and the lighter rare earths is seen in this conference, hence the more general terminology . . . Iff-Electron Systems. " It seems clear that this comparison will lead to an extension to the actinides of mixed valence and Kondo considerations, as well as CEF effects. The emergence of a broader discipline which includes all f-electron systems and which is concerned with unstable, as well as stable, valence reflects the maturation of the field and a coming to grips with the complexity, as well as the unity, of f-electron systems. This maturation is also seen in the growing realization of the effects of CEF on transport, thermodynamic properties, and superconductivity and its co-existence with magnetic order. This volume contains 63 articles, all but two of which were presented at the Conference held in Philadelphia, U. S. A. , on 12-15 November, 1979. About 100 conferees from 13 countries attended the meeting which consisted of four full days of lecture presentations.

Book Synopsis Compound Systems in Nonextensive Statistical Mechanics and Manganites by : Felipe Américo Reyes Navarro
Download or read book Compound Systems in Nonextensive Statistical Mechanics and Manganites written by Felipe Américo Reyes Navarro and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2022 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents insights into manganese oxides, which are materials with important technological applications such as magnetic refrigeration and magnetic sensors. It provides many mathematical proofs carried out in a didactic and elegant way; some of them use, for example, the method of mathematical induction. The book will be of interest to both researchers of physical sciences and the general reader interested in the subject.
Book Synopsis Magnetic Resonance of Semiconductors and Their Nanostructures by : Pavel G. Baranov
Download or read book Magnetic Resonance of Semiconductors and Their Nanostructures written by Pavel G. Baranov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-03-20 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explains different magnetic resonance (MR) techniques and uses different combinations of these techniques to analyze defects in semiconductors and nanostructures. It also introduces novelties such as single defects MR and electron-paramagnetic-resonance-based methods: electron spin echo, electrically detected magnetic resonance, optically detected magnetic resonance and electron-nuclear double resonance – the designated tools for investigating the structural and spin properties of condensed systems, living matter, nanostructures and nanobiotechnology objects. Further, the authors address problems existing in semiconductor and nanotechnology sciences that can be resolved using MR, and discuss past, current and future applications of MR, with a focus on advances in MR methods. The book is intended for researchers in MR studies of semiconductors and nanostructures wanting a comprehensive review of what has been done in their own and related fields of study, as well as future perspectives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 17 of the Handbook on the Properties of Magnetic Materials, as the preceding volumes, has a dual purpose. As a textbook it is intended to be of assistance to those who wish to be introduced to a given topic in the field of magnetism without the need to read the vast amount of literature published. As a work of reference it is intended for scientists active in magnetism research. To this dual purpose, Volume 17 of the Handbook is composed of topical review articles written by leading authorities. In each of these articles an extensive description is given in graphical as well as in tabular form, much emphasis being placed on the discussion of the experimental material in the framework of physics, chemistry and material science. It provides the readership with novel trends and achievements in magnetism.*composed of topical review articles written by leading authorities *intended to be of assistance to those who wish to be introduced to a given topic in the field of magnetism *as a work of reference it is intended for scientists active in magnetism research *provide the readership with novel trends and achievements in magnetism
