Book excerpt: The general features of the process of photon-meson production are discussed on a semi-classical basis and also on the basis of perturbation theory in the weak coupling approximation applied to scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, and pseudovector meson theory. These calcuations are carried out with the Feynman-Dyson methods to give covariant expressions for the cross sections.

Book excerpt: This book is devoted to the investigation of the strongly interacting hadrons ? to a quark model operating with effective color particles, constituent quarks, massive effective gluons and diquarks. The study of strong interactions based on effective constituent particles requires a solid ground of experimental data, which we now have at our disposal with the serious progress made in the investigation of hadrons, especially meson states. The present understanding of QCD applied to strong interactions can be distorted by prejudices. Therefore, the way followed by the quark model is to rely on the experiment and to restore the effective Hamiltonian on the basis of QCD on the one hand, and, on the other, of the spectral integral method.Baryon-baryon and antibaryon-baryon interactions are studied with the purpose of unambiguous applications of the written formulae to the interpretation of experimental data ? to the observation of new meson and baryon resonances. The technique used is the spin-orbital momentum expansion of the amplitude. This method is our basic approach to the proper treatment of experimental data. The photon-induced reactions are also considered and the problem of form factors is discussed.

This book was released on 2006-01-26 with total page 530 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lepton-Photon symposiums — as represented by the contributions in this volume — are among the most popular conferences in high energy physics since they give an in-depth snapshots of the status of the field as provided by leading experts. The volume covers the latest results on flavor factories, quantum chromodynamics (QCD), electroweak physics, dark matter searches, neutrino physics and cosmology, from a phenomenological point of view. It also offers a glimpse of the immediate future of the field through summaries on the status of the next generation of high energy accelerators and planned facilities for astroparticle physics. The review nature of the articles makes the volume particularly useful to students, as well as being of interest to established researches in high-energy physics and related fields.

This book was released on 1998-02-28 with total page 498 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main focus of this book is on experimental results from electron-positron and electron-proton colliders and related theoretical questions, particularly on hadron production at energies from 1 to 100 GeV and higher. The topics discussed include photo- and electroproduction of heavy flavours, the photon structure function, total cross section, jet production and resonance production. The future of the field is also discussed, notably experiments at linear photon-photon colliders.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although perturbative QCD has progressed much in the last few years, the notion of diquarks is still useful and vital and many short cuts induced by diquarks can still be very efficient for simulating nonperturbative effects in the intermediate energy region (from a few GeV to some 10-20 GeV), where a whole new generation of machines is being planned and will, hopefully, become operative in the near future.
