Of the remaining sixty-nine Cardinals, sixty-two were in Rome at the time of the Pope's death; seven were absent. These were: Cueva, Sandoval, Mazarin, Filomarino, Durazzo, Frederick of Hesse, and Harrach, but the four last-named reached Rome in time to take part in the conclave.
