Book excerpt: Ten years after being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease (Pd), in 1992, I had been able to overcome many of the movement symptoms, and have also been able to show, many other Pd patients, how to do the same. Because I was the only person who has done this, certain members of the medical profession told other Pd patients that I do not have Pd and they should not listen to what I am telling them in my book, "Reverse Parkinson's Disease". That is without ever having examined me. The rationale behind that is that there is no cure for Pd, therefore I obviously did not have Pd. I NEVER CLAIMED TO BE CURED! I still have many of the symptoms, but because I no longer need to take medication, I think that is the reason why those doctors are telling their patients I do not have Pd. There is obviously a conflict between the medical world and Pd patients. There are many other conflicting areas surrounding the treatment of Pd that I pose in this book. This book gives a brief account of how I managed to overcome the symptoms and what I must do to maintain my present condition. I pose a question that might give us a clearer idea of how the drugs industry approach the subject of cures and treatments. We Patients want a cure for Pd but, it is my feeling that it is in the Drug Industry's interest to treat the symptoms over a long period of time, rather than curing it. What they would get for a cure would be a fraction of what they get for the years of treatment they currently do.
