Book Synopsis Paul Kane's Great Nor-West by : Diane F. Eaton
Download or read book Paul Kane's Great Nor-West written by Diane F. Eaton and published by UBC Press. This book was released on 1997-03 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This beautifully designed and richly illustrated book recreates Paul Kane's heroic 1845 -- 48 journey from the Great Lakes to the Pacific coast, and brings to life the people, places, and events he encountered. He returned to Toronto with some 500 field sketches which he used as the basis for oil pointings depicting scenes of Indian life. Illustrated with a wide selection of the field sketches as well as his oil paintings, this book reintroduces a remarkable artist to a modern audience. This fascinating text helps us to understand a world now lost to us. It helps to preserve cultures and peoples swallowed up in the western migrations in both the United States and Canada. It takes us into the soul of its subject. -- Salem Statesman Journal

Book Synopsis You're the Mecca I never want to visit by : Soumyanetra
Download or read book You're the Mecca I never want to visit written by Soumyanetra and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2019-07-26 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did I ever meet You? The simple answer is No, I never wanted to. A simpler answer is Yes, millions of times, in the gravity of spaces, in the eternity of moments, in the vortex of storms, in mellow dusks, and in grains of sands… You are ‘now’ and ‘here’. And You are ‘never’ and ‘nowhere’. Here is a collection of poems from the deepest chasms of unfulfilled desires and solitary musings, that somehow make the unbearable bearable, with just a whiff of ecstasy at the border of dejection, just the hint of a dream at the edge of doom, just a sublime hope at the end of the subconscious sorrow. They unsettle and ruffle peace and are unending journeys within oneself. Let the catharsis begin. Let intricate turbulence be expressed. Let the journey itself be relished and imbibed. Let the heart transcend the commonplace and the expected into forbidden realms and uncharted territories. Let the zing simmer. Let the passion live!

Book Synopsis Out Of Joint by : Pinaki Prasad Dhar
Download or read book Out Of Joint written by Pinaki Prasad Dhar and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2020-11-20 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How many, when they were young, had seen the Dance of Death on the streets of their cities? Not many, hopefully! Nayan was one of those who had seen it. He saw the Dance of Death striking millions of youth and leaving them dead, maimed and incapacitated. Its tools of decimation were the red and the white terror. What a Fire Game it was! That’s the story of Out of Joint, the sequel to Paradise Inappropriate – the first part – the story of Nayan‘s personal suffering. He sees the paradise of his teenage years dwindling before his pain-stricken eyes – his first love getting poisoned by adult prejudice. It was like the serpent ensnaring Eve – although in a different context altogether. The cup of Nayan‘s disenchantment, thus, was full... He did manage to come out of his ennui. As the novel ends, we find Nayan hopeful that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.
