Book excerpt: The Holy Quran literally meaning "the recitation"; also romanized as Qur'an or Koran is the central religious text of Islam, which Muslims believe to be a revelation from Allah (swt) (God). The Quran is divided into chapters (surah in Arabic), which are then divided into verses (ayah). Muslims believe that the Quran was verbally revealed by God to Muhammad through the angel Gabriel (Jibril), gradually over a period of approximately 23 years, beginning on 22 December 609 CE, when Prophet Muhammad SAW was 40, and concluding in 632, the year of his death. Muslims regard the Quran as the most important miracle of Prophet Muhammad SAW, a proof of his prophethood, and the culmination of a series of divine messages that started with the messages revealed to Prophet Adam (Pbuh) and ended with Prophet Muhammad SAW. The word "Quran" occurs some 70 times in the text of the Quran, although different names and words are also said to be references to the Quran. This particular edition was translated by two Madina based scholars Dr. Muhsin Khan and Dr. Taqi-ud-Din Hilali. It features frequent footnotes gleaned by the translators from Tafsir At-Tabari, Al-Qurtubi and Tafsir Ibn Kathir, and Sahih-al-Bukhari. It is unique, remarkable and distinguished for its crystal clear, precise and pristine meanings. The work is recognised, approved and widely attributed throughout the world. Offers commentary and hadith related to the verse. This unique combination of commentary and relevant Ahadith makes this a very useful study reference tool. This edition consists of the English Translation only. This book was released on 2017-06-13 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to introduce Islam and Muslims in South Korea to non-Korean readers of history, especially given the increasing popularity of Korean culture, particularly in the music and entertainment industries. This study therefore provides insights into the existence of the Muslim community in South Korea, something that is unknown to many and also on the challenges and problems facing both Korean and foreign Muslims in South Korea. It has been more than half a century since the end of the Korean War in 1953 when Islam first established its foothold in South Korea, yet to date only about 0.02% of its population is Muslim (about 45,000 South Korean Muslims) while the number of foreign Muslims continue to increase, reaching about 200,000 in number. Using a qualitative approach and interviews with Korean Muslim individuals, this study provides information on how Islamic da'wah was carried out in South Korea, the factors contributing to the spread of Islam, and challenges facing the da'i in performing da'wah. Moreover, this study also provides information on several Muslim countries, Muslim organisations and the individuals involved in da'wah activities in South Korea, especially with regard to their efforts and contributions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a detailed analysis of the translation of the Qur’an in Saudi Arabia, the most important global actor in the promotion, production and dissemination of Qur’an translations. From the first attempts at translation in the mid-twentieth century to more recent state-driven efforts concerned with international impact, The Kingdom and the Qur’an adeptly elucidates the link between contemporary Islamic theology and the advent of modern print culture. It investigates this critical juncture in both Middle Eastern political history and the intellectual evolution of the Muslim world, interweaving literary, socio-historical, and socio-anthropological threads to depict the intricate backdrop of the Saudi ‘Qur'an translation movement’. Mykhaylo Yakubovych provides a comprehensive historical overview of the debates surrounding the translatability of the Qur'an, as well as exploring the impact of the burgeoning translation and dissemination of the holy book upon Wahhabi and Salafi interpretations of Islam. Backed by meticulous research and drawing on a wealth of sources, this work illuminates an essential facet of global Islamic culture and scholarly discourse.

It is he who is responsible for the creation of the heavens, the earth, mankind, the angels, jinns, and all what is known and unknown in this universe. His creations include both the hidden and the unseen world of which very little is known to man. This is due to the fact that all sources of knowledge, power, and wisdom belongs to Allah. And he giveth or withdraweth any of these gifts to whom he wills.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Note: ALL proceeds from the sale of this publication will go to charity. The Holy Quran is a compilation of 114 chapters, revealed to prophet Muhammad (pbuh) over a period of 23 years. However, the arrangement of these in the universally accepted Uthmanic Codex is different to the chronological order in which the divine verses were revealed. This book presents a chronological arrangement of the chapters in the Noble Quran, with the primary objectives as follows: to deliver a concise and yet a fundamental summary of the key life events of prophet Muhammad (pbuh); to present English translation of selected verses from the Quranic chapters; to provide a foundation understanding of the Quranic revelations in light of the life events of the Prophet and the circumstances prevalent at the time. This book has been kept short in length, with the intention that the reader is able to gain the essential familiarity with the subject matter, relatively easily. Although, much written work is available on the teachings of the Quran, the literature on the time-order arrangement of the divine revelations in the context of the events at the time, is rather scarce. In this respect, the book also aims to fill a gap that currently exists in this body of knowledge.

Book excerpt: Communicating with Asia brings together an international team of leading researchers to discuss South, South-East, East and Central Asia, and explore Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi-Urdu, Malay, and Russian as major languages. The volume locates English inside a number of national, regional or lingua franca contexts and illustrates the way it develops in such contact situations. Local dynamics affecting languages in contact and cultural links of languages are dealt with, such as educational-political issues and tensions between conflicting norms. In today's global world, where the continent is an increasing area of focus, it is vital to explore what it means to 'understand' Asian cultures through English and other languages. This important new study will be of interest to students and researchers working in the fields of regional studies, English as a global language, Asian languages and cultural studies.

Book excerpt: First published in 1990. A country’s development does not take place in a vacuum and it was therefore essential in this earlier work that the main subject (the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s development) should be set into an historical, political and social context. The original edition includes a summary of this background information, starting with the Kingdom’s geographical location and proceeding with a brief account of its history, its political importance and its role in the world economy. Within this context, is described the development and progress of what the Kingdom had achieved, outlining the country’s governmental structure, its administrative divisions, its available investment potential, its prevailing legal and commercial regulations, and its future plans and ambitions. This new book, which has been structured to encompass all aspects of the Kingdom’s development, contains the latest statistical data on the Kingdom’s progress, together with the newly revised background information of the former book. Thus each of the books complements the other, for each records the relevant information at a particular stage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s continuing developmental process.
