Book excerpt: The Nights That Tarry, Alone is a compilation of four short mystery stories, with a vintage fifties noir flair, all based on the hard-boiled life of detective Angel Manelli, mostly set in the beautiful desert playground of Palm Springs, California. He's a world-weary, street-smart private eye, former cop with LAPD and detective with the Palm Springs Police. This first-generation Italian American army veteran doesn't care much for people's pathetic excuses for breaking the law. His unspoken heart's desire is to be reinstated "on the job" as a cop again. Guilt-ridden shame, surreptitious regret, unmitigated revenge, redemption, and justice--all converge in the end. Through many twists, misdirections, and secrets revealed, Angel embarks on a journey for the truth, which ultimately leads to four guilty parties for various crimes. It's a bountiful harvest of justice served!

In the midst of the Seven Years War(1758), at about age fifteen, Jemison was taken from her western Pennsylvania home by a Shawnee and French raiding party. Her family was killed, but Mary was traded to two Seneca sisters who adopted her to replace a slain brother. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Taken captive at the early age of thirteen by Seneca Indians, Mary Jemison was trained in the wilderness to the ordinary duties of the Indian female. Embedded with the sentiments and lifestyle of the Seneca's she essentially transformed into a member of the tribe. Mary Jemison's story is a remarkable one not because of her extraordinary lifestyle, but because this was the lifestyle that, in the end, she chose for herself. When prisoners were being set free from the bondage of the Indians after the French and Indian War, Mrs. Jemison chose to remain with her Indian friends and accept her Seneca upbringing. Known for her uncommon generosity, as Westward Expansion began to flourish, those who settled near the Genesee River soon became acquainted with The White Woman. This is not a facsimile but is a quality retype set addition. It is illustrated and contains a Appendix with Indian Geographical Names of the area.
