These six states are filled with odd curiosities and bizarre legends, such as the elusive Vermont hum, the hibernating hill folk, hillside whale tales, and the Holy Land (yes, you read that right). Tongue-in-cheek and filled with dry wit, this is a journey you'll not soon forget."--P. [4] of cover.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: HAUNTINGS, GHOSTS & DEMONS is a collection of short stories by accomplished paranormal investigator and author Jack Kenna of the TV series Paranormal Survivor and Haunted Case Files. The stories within would seem to be works of pure fiction, but the fact is many of the experiences described in these tales are from actual cases, events, experiences, and even evidence captured by Jack and the S.P.I.R.I.T.S. team during several of their investigations. Still, not all of these stories are based on actual events, but much of the activity described in them is based on documented experiences of real paranormal activity. Shadow figures, objects moving, strange light anomalies, disembodied voices, physical attack by something that cannot been seen, and demonic possession; it all does exist and is real, Jack and his team have witnessed much of it firsthand. Chilling, engrossing, and witty. An extremely enjoyable read for any paranormal or horror enthusiast.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although spectral Indians appear with startling frequency in US literary works, until now the implications of describing them as ghosts have not been thoroughly investigated. In the first years of nationhood, Philip Freneau and Sarah Wentworth Morton peopled their works with Indian phantoms, as did Charles Brocken Brown, Washington Irving, Samuel Woodworth, Lydia Maria Child, James Fenimore Cooper, William Apess, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and others who followed. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Native American ghosts figured prominently in speeches attributed to Chief Seattle, Black Elk, and Kicking Bear. Today, Stephen King and Leslie Marmon Silko plot best-selling novels around ghostly Indians and haunted Indian burial grounds. RenŽe L. Bergland argues that representing Indians as ghosts internalizes them as ghostly figures within the white imagination. Spectralization allows white Americans to construct a concept of American nationhood haunted by Native Americans, in which Indians become sharers in an idealized national imagination. However, the problems of spectralization are clear, since the discourse questions the very nationalism it constructs. Indians who are transformed into ghosts cannot be buried or evaded, and the specter of their forced disappearance haunts the American imagination. Indian ghosts personify national guilt and horror, as well as national pride and pleasure. Bergland tells the story of a terrifying and triumphant American aesthetic that repeatedly transforms horror into glory, national dishonor into national pride.

Graveyard chronicles a host of their most harrowing, fact-based cases of ghostly visitations, demonic stalking, heart-wrenching otherworldly encounters, and horrifying comeuppance from the spirit world. If you don’t believe, you will. And whether you read it alone in the dead of night or in the middle of a sunny day, you’ll be forever haunted by its gallery of specters eager to feed on your darkest dread.
