It consolidates under 18 different subjects in two volumes the objective of Central Acts passed by the Central Government. It covers the objective of each Act, the rights, duties, obligations, and punishments for non-compliance. The book is directed at non-legal persons i.e., ordinary citizens of the country who have not studied or practice law as a subject. The book can also be of immense value as a reference tool to lawyers and legal practitioners. The utility value of the book can be enhanced manifold once it is translated into regional languages. The book aims at guiding a reader into an informed citizen. It provides a platform to reduce the impact and incidence of risks arising out of non-compliance. It is more apt today when so much debate is taking place in the country related to constitutional rights, sedition laws, receiving FCRA, rights of women, the privileged, animal rights, etc. The book has the foreword notes by Mr. Shailesh Haribhakti, an eminent chartered accountant and Mr. Manoj K Raut, CEO of the Institute of Directors (IOD).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This two-volume set examines modern nation-state legislative, diplomatic, military, and non-military attempts to combat terrorism within and outside state borders. The articles which comprise this comprehensive reference work address counterterrorism efforts employed by the international community prior to and following the events of September 11, 2001. Global terrorism in the 21st century threatens the foundations of secular democracies and directly challenges global security thereby raising new and critical issues that transcend national borders. This two-volume reference carefully examines threats such as Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) terrorism, agro-environmental terrorism, and energy-related terrorism, and discusses technologies and strategies—such as the use of biometrics, data mining, information systems, psychological profiling, and terrorists rehabilitation efforts—to mitigate these threats. Counterterrorism: From the Cold War to the War on Terror provides an easy-to-read discussion of some of the principal issues involved in combating contemporary terrorism. Information is presented in non-technical language, making it appealing to the general reader as well as a solid reference for undergraduate college students and researchers. Following each article are references to other articles of interest and a comprehensive index facilitates access to specific subject material. The second volume includes a compilation of significant national and international treaties, laws, conventions, and protocols that have been implemented in an attempt to counter these ongoing threats to domestic and international security.

Book excerpt: National security strategy is a vast subject involving a daunting array of interrelated sublements woven in intricate, sometimes vague, and ever-changing patterns. Its processes are often irregular and confusing and are always based on difficult decisions laden with serious risks. In short, it is, at the same time, a subject of overwhelming importance to the fate of the United States and civilization itself. The authors have done a considerable service by drawing together many of the diverse threads of national security into a coherent whole. They consider political and military strategy elements as part of a larger decision making process influenced by economic, technological, cultural and historical factors. Air University Press. Book excerpt: "The United States Code is the official codification of the general and permanent laws of the United States of America. The Code was first published in 1926, and a new edition of the code has been published every six years since 1934. The 2012 edition of the Code incorporates laws enacted through the One Hundred Twelfth Congress, Second Session, the last of which was signed by the President on January 15, 2013. It does not include laws of the One Hundred Thirteenth Congress, First Session, enacted between January 2, 2013, the date it convened, and January 15, 2013. By statutory authority this edition may be cited "U.S.C. 2012 ed." As adopted in 1926, the Code established prima facie the general and permanent laws of the United States. The underlying statutes reprinted in the Code remained in effect and controlled over the Code in case of any discrepancy. In 1947, Congress began enacting individual titles of the Code into positive law. When a title is enacted into positive law, the underlying statutes are repealed and the title then becomes legal evidence of the law. Currently, 26 of the 51 titles in the Code have been so enacted. These are identified in the table of titles near the beginning of each volume. The Law Revision Counsel of the House of Representatives continues to prepare legislation pursuant to 2 U.S.C. 285b to enact the remainder of the Code, on a title-by-title basis, into positive law. The 2012 edition of the Code was prepared and published under the supervision of Ralph V. Seep, Law Revision Counsel. Grateful acknowledgment is made of the contributions by all who helped in this work, particularly the staffs of the Office of the Law Revision Counsel and the Government Printing Office"--Preface.

Book excerpt: The official report that has shaped the international debate about NSA surveillance "We cannot discount the risk, in light of the lessons of our own history, that at some point in the future, high-level government officials will decide that this massive database of extraordinarily sensitive private information is there for the plucking. Americans must never make the mistake of wholly 'trusting' our public officials."—The NSA Report This is the official report that is helping shape the international debate about the unprecedented surveillance activities of the National Security Agency. Commissioned by President Obama following disclosures by former NSA contractor Edward J. Snowden, and written by a preeminent group of intelligence and legal experts, the report examines the extent of NSA programs and calls for dozens of urgent and practical reforms. The result is a blueprint showing how the government can reaffirm its commitment to privacy and civil liberties—without compromising national security.

This book was released on 2020-03-08 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Awareness on National Security is vital part of whole UPSC Civil Services Examination. Based on the past experiences, the topic of National Security starts from - Preliminary Examination in the form of objective questions on various defense equipment's or military exercises. - In Main Examination, around 4 questions (50 Marks) of General Studies-III are directly related to the topics covered under National Security. - Finally, in the Interview Stage, at least one interview board member is more likely to ask questions related to internal and external security of India, if not more. So, based on these needs of the examination and past experiences, our book 'National Security Strategy: Securing India Internally and Externally' carries five broad chapters with some other sections to develop a holistic understanding on the internal and external security environment of India. Help is taken from not just the recent National Security perspectives but also from our past with the works of Kautilya (Chanakya) and wise advice's from Mahabharata and other Sages. All of that is condensed to impart information on not just the topics of Civil Service Examination topics, i.e.- Linkages between development and spread of extremism; Role of external state and non-state actors in creating challenges to internal security; Challenges to internal security through communication networks, role of media and social networking sites in internal security challenges, basics of cyber security; money-laundering and its prevention; Security challenges and their management in border areas - linkages of organized crime with terrorism; and Various Security forces and agencies and their mandate But to give detailed perspectives on the war, national security strategy and future challenges to be faced by India, so that you can develop your own understanding on the whole topic of National Security and answer questions based on greater insights. We would suggest our readers to first have a basic reading of the book and later, segregate the topics for various stages of Civil Services Examination based on the Syllabus given at the start of book and previous year Main Examination questions given at the end of book. The Chapter list of the book is a follows: CHAPTER 1 - Understanding National Security CHAPTER 2 - Conflict, Negotiations and War CHAPTER 3 - Our Leadership Structure & Mandate of Executive Agencies CHAPTER 4 - Challenges to Internal Security of India & Solutions CHAPTER 5 - Challenges to External Security of India & Solutions This book can also be used by avid security learners and aspirants preparing for other competitive examinations like CAPF, CDS, NDA etc.
