Book Synopsis Jungle Comics #100 by : Kari Therrian
Download or read book Jungle Comics #100 written by Kari Therrian and published by . This book was released on 2017-06-29 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: JUNGLE COMICS #100The main character associated with the title is Kaanga. He appeared in every issue of Jungle Comics. When Kaanga was a child his parents died in the jungle and he was raised by apes. The reader never gets to know his real name or his ancestry, but the jungle is where Kaanga feels most at home. In the first issue Kaanga meets his mate Ann, who is a Jane clone, after he rescues her from a white slave trader named Bill Blackton. Ann then joins Kaanga in his jungle existence. After nearly ten years Kaanga was given his own title in Spring, 1949. This ran for 20 issues until the Summer of 1954. One of the reasons for the series demise was the formation of The Comics Code Authority, a self-regulatory body that was formed because of moral concerns about the contents of many of the comics of the time. As much of Fiction House's material involved images of scantily clad women they withdrew from the market. You can enjoy again - or for the first time - JUNGLE COMICS #100 with this public domain reprint from GOLDEN AGE REPRINTS. Check out the full line - new titles every week! The catalog provides detailed information about more than 60,000 cataloged books, magazines, scrapbooks, fanzines, comic books, and other materials in the Michigan State University Libraries, America's premiere library comics collection. The catalog lists both comics and works about comics. Each book or serial is listed by title, with entries as appropriate under author, subject, and series. Besides the traditional books and magazines, significant collections of microfilm, sound recordings, vertical files, and realia (mainly T-shirts) are included. Comics and related materials are grouped by nationality (e.g., French comics) and genre (e.g., funny animal comics). Several times larger than any previously published bibliography, list, or catalog on the comic arts, this unique international dictionary catalog is indispensible for all scholars and students of comics and the broad field of popular culture.

Affordable, disposable, and commercially in-demand, the fiction magazines remained popular through the mid 20th century, and are now frequently cited by researchers as culturally and historically significant documents. This work is a comprehensive index of American pulp magazines. Entries are organized alphabetically by magazine title, and offer bibliographic data including author, volume/issue numbers, dates of publication, publisher, and a brief categorization. Each entry also includes a helpful list of current library holdings, if any, among American, Canadian, and European libraries.

Book Synopsis Consuming Modernity by : Carol Appadurai Breckenridge
Download or read book Consuming Modernity written by Carol Appadurai Breckenridge and published by U of Minnesota Press. This book was released on 1995 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book aims to illustrate that what is distinctive about any particular society is not the fact of its modernity, but rather its own unique debates about modernity. Behind the embattled arena of culture in India, for example, lie particular social and political interests such as the growing middle class, the entrepreneurs and commercial institutions, and the state. The contributors address the roles of these various intertwined interests in the making of India's public culture, each examining different sites of consumption. The sites which are explored include cinema, radio, cricket, restaurants and tourism. The book also makes distinct the differences among public, mass and popular culture.
