After all, this unit is a mini-microcosm of geography, government, history, economics, and so much more. It is the place where even a child is a bona fide citizen and has rights, responsibilities, and privileges. It's where you live, go to school, work, pay taxes, vote, get your first driver's license, and many other useful, important, everyday things that make our own personal world go 'round. When kids learn how this geo-political unit works to aid and benefit citizens of all ages, it is to their great advantage. This book includes reproducible county/parish/borough map and activities; the who, what, when, where, and why background; advantages, benefits, and responsibilities of being a citizen; where to go for help...and to help out; reproducible activities such as creating an automobile license plate, applying for a library card, registering to vote, a trip to the Health Department, a trip to the courthouse, and much more! Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Broken Lenses reveals the truth of who God made people to be and the freedom that results from living out that truth. A rape survivor, Emily Bernath’s life quickly turned away from having everything to feeling hopelessness and worthlessness. It was during that time of being open about her experience that it became apparent to her just how many other people experience those same feelings and so easily allow things that aren’t true about them define who they are. Broken Lenses stems from a passion to take outreach to the next level. Inside, Emily identifies some of the most popular lies people believe about themselves and pulls out the 12 biggest Biblical truths Christians should embrace in their own lives, such as “I am lovable” and “I am not a failure.” With her scientific background and tell-it-how-it-is approach, Emily analyzes and connects each truth to God’s word through a few key lessons for each truth. She calls out the ways in which the enemy prevents people from believing these truths about themselves and what it looks like to truly embrace each of these truths. Ultimately, Broken Lenses helps readers achieve a more intimate relationship with God and the freedom that He desires each of his children to live in.

Book excerpt: This report provides information for use in both short- and long term land-planning decisions, particularly at the county level, and an indication of the present and future economic impact of mineral and energy development. The report discusses eight major commodity groups: (1) oil and gas, (2) coal and coal resin, (3) coal-bed methane, (4) other energy resources (oil-impregnated rock, oil shale, geothermal), (5) uranium and vanadium, (6) metallic minerals, (7) industrial rocks and minerals, and (8) ground-water resources. In general, for each group or commodity within a group the following aspects are discussed: (1) known occurrences and characteristics, (2) past production and trends, (3) current production and exploration activity, and (4) geologic potential. Plates accompany each of the major commodity groups and show the locations of known resources and areas of geologic potential. In addition to the commodity discussions, the report contains a brief summary of land ownership status and concludes with a summary of commodities having the best potential for discovery and development. 161 pages + 14 plates

A mistake is an adventure in creativity, a portal of discovery. A spill doesn’t ruin a drawing—not when it becomes the shape of a goofy animal. And an accidental tear in your paper? Don’t be upset about it when you can turn it into the roaring mouth of an alligator. An award winning, best-selling, one-of-a-kind interactive book, Beautiful Oops! shows young readers how every mistake is an opportunity to make something beautiful. A singular work of imagination, creativity, and paper engineering, Beautiful Oops! is filled with pop-ups, lift-the-flaps, tears, holes, overlays, bends, smudges, and even an accordion “telescope”—each demonstrating the magical transformation from blunder to wonder.

Family tradition indicates he immigrated between 1630 and 1642 under an assumed name (possibly Weaver). Descendants and relatives lived throughout the United States. Joseph Mecham Sr. (1780-1845), a direct descendant in the sixth generation, married Sarah Basford, and they became Mormon converts. They moved from New Hampshire (via Ohio and Missouri) to Nauvoo, Illinois, where he died. His descendants and relatives lived in Utah, Idaho, Arizona, California and elsewhere. Includes much Mecham ancestry and genealogical data in England to about 1066 A.D., including various lines of nobility.
