Book excerpt: "An ACTION-PACKED read that will pull you along from the first page to the chilling end." ★★★★★ One universe. Two different races. One common enemy. When the benevolent race known as the Illuminous visited Earth back in the 1950's, they weren't aware of the aliens who had attached themselves to the hull of their ship. The Mor, also known as Seeds, found Earth to be a poor choice for a new home, but a home, nonetheless. Years later, three brilliant college students inadvertently stumble on a formula that enhances the Mors' ability to communicate and grow at an incredible rate... and now the race is on to reverse what was done before all life is destroyed. The Mor is a "fast-paced" and "tightly written" standalone Sci-fi Thriller. (Previously released as Seeds)

Book excerpt: Winner of the Middle East Book Award, Youth Fiction category Jameela lives with her mother and father in Afghanistan. Despite the fact that there is no school in their poor, war-torn village, and Jameela lives with a birth defect that has left her with a cleft lip, she feels relatively secure, sustained by her faith and the strength of her beloved mother, Mor. But when Mor suddenly dies, Jameela's father impulsively decides to seek a new life in Kabul. He remarries, a situation that turns Jameela into a virtual slave to her demanding stepmother. When the stepmother discovers that Jameela is trying to learn to read, she urges her father to simply abandon the child in Kabul's busy marketplace. Jameela ends up in an orphanage. Throughout it all, it is the memory of Mor that anchors her and in the end gives Jameela the strength to face her father and stepmother when fate brings them into her life again. Fiona is determined to find Jamie and enlists her cousin Rory to help. When her grandparents are suddenly threatened with eviction, Fiona and Rory go into action. Book excerpt: In central Thailand, a flamboyantly turbaned gay medium for the Hindu god of the underworld posts Facebook selfies of himself hugging and kissing a young man. In Myanmar’s largest city Yangon, a one-time member of a gay NGO dons an elaborate wedding dress to be ritually married to a possessing female spirit; he believes she will offer more support for his gay lifestyle than the path of LGBTQ activism. The only son of a Chinese trading family in Bangkok finds acceptance for his homosexuality and crossdressing when he becomes the medium for a revered female Chinese deity. And in northern Thailand, female mediums smoke, drink, flaunt butch masculine poses and flirt with female followers when they are ritually possessed by male warrior deities. Across the Buddhist societies of mainland Southeast Asia, local queer cultures are at the center of a recent proliferation of professional spirit mediumship. Drawing on detailed ethnographies and extensive comparative research, Deities and Divas captures this variety and ferment. The first book to trace commonalities between queer and religious cultures in Southeast Asia and the West, it reveals how modern gay, trans and spirit medium communities all emerge from a shared formative matrix of capitalism and new media. With insights and analysis that transcend the modern opposition of religion vs secularity, it provides fascinating new perspectives in transnational cultural, religious and queer studies.

Danah Mor has created an easy-to-follow, no-nonsense guide that combines scientific and holistic advice to allow you to become your own food doctor, creating an achievable, sustainable plan that is completely personal to you. Our relationship with food is changing. Fad diets and "clean" eating is out and people have abandoned the search for a quick fix in favour of a heightened understanding of the importance of balance, both in their diets and their lives as a whole. In this book, qualified nutritionist and Ayurvedic practitioner, Danah Mor, gives readers all the information they need to adopt a positive, pragmatic mindset that banishes guilt and reframes their relationship with food in a sustainable and realistic way. Readers are introduced to a new perspective on food that helps them understand why they are attracted to certain foods. It shows them how non-physical nourishment is more powerful and important than physical food. Readers are given a chance to reconstruct new relationships with food, where their search and need for certain foods will naturally change and evolve into better choices over time. While many nutritionists bombard readers with lists about what to eat and what not to eat, Danah guides you back to basics. The book is structured into thirteen chapters, each one aimed at increasing your understanding of a specific aspect of health and wellbeing. As a whole, the book will allow you to recognise and plug the holes in your own knowledge and become your own boss and food doctor, ultimately equipping you with tools to fix your relationship with food and live a healthier and happier life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The military conflict between the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Turkish Armed Forces has endured over the course of the past three decades. Since 1984, the conflict has claimed the lives of more than 45,000 civilians, militants, and soldiers, as well as causing thousands of casualties and disappearances. It has led to the displacement of millions of people and caused the forced evacuation of nearly 4,000 villages and towns. Suspended periodically by various cease-fires, the conflict has been a significant force in shaping many of the ethnic, social, and political enclaves of contemporary Turkey, where contradictory forms of governance have been installed across the Kurdish region. In States of Dispossession, Zerrin Özlem Biner traces the violence of the protracted conflict in the Kurdish region through the lens of dispossession. By definition, dispossession implies the act of depriving someone of land, property, and other belongings as well as the result of such deprivation. Within the fields of Ottoman and contemporary Turkish studies, social scientists to date have examined the dispossession of rights and property as a technique for governing territory and those citizens living at its margins. States of Dispossession instead highlights everyday experiences in an attempt to understand the persistent and intangible effects of dispossession. Biner examines the practices and discourses that emerge from local memories of unspoken, irresolvable histories and the ways people of differing religious and ethnic backgrounds live with the remains of violence that is still unfolding. She explores the implicit knowledge held by ordinary people about the landscape and the built environment and the continuous struggle to reclaim rights over dispossessed bodies and places.
