Indeed, the idea would probably never have occurred to me had I not been asked by many brother riflemen to put into writing the numerous small matters I have at various times investigated, both for their interest and my own. Undoubtedly, much will be found in these pages that is ancient history to more experienced shooters, but if I have succeeded in making clear the first principles of rifle shooting to the beginner, I shall be well satisfied.
