As the years have passed since the death of our dear father the realization of the greatness of his work has grown upon us, and the study of it has become more fascinating. It is with the deepest satisfaction that we see the Annular Theory gaining more and more recognition, so that students of geology in some of our largest universities now have the opportunity of studying it along with other geological theories. In the year 1905 Dr. Herbert A. Parkyn of Chicago published the matter contained in this book under the title, "The Deluge and Its Cause". That edition having been exhausted, we now present the same material, with revisions and corrections, under the title, "The Misread Record." The present edition has been made possible by the editor of The Equitist, W. E. Brokaw. who has been for twenty years a student of Annular Evolution and was a personal friend of its author.
