Book excerpt: First published between 1934 and 1937 in instalments, Abdullah Yusuf Ali's Holy Quran: Text, Translation and Commentary is perhaps one of the most informed and authentic twentieth century English translations of the Quran with an inclusive language. Stressing the ethical and spiritual dimensions of the Quran and simultaneously using his deep linguistic and historical insights, Yusuf Ali, in his translation, tries to convey the universal message of the Quran by appealing to human reason, however, without going beyond any of the foundational belief systems of Islam. Tawasul International is devoted to building bridges of understanding between the world of Islam and the West, furthering interfaith dialogue, challenging islamophobia, sharing the peaceful message of Islam with others in an unobtrusive way, sponsoring both academic and public conferences on Islam, networking among scholars and other foundations that have got similar aims like Tawasul and publishing high quality books and monographs on Islam, Arab-Muslim culture and Islam's relationship with the West and Christianity, etc.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Quran, a book which brings glad tidings to mankind along with divine admonition, stresses the importance of man's discovery of truth on both spiritual and intellectual planes. Every book has its objective and the objective of the Quran is to make man aware of the Creation plan of God. That is, to tell man why God created this world; what the purpose is of settling man on earth; what is required from man in his pre-death life span, and what he is going to confront after death. The purpose of the Quran is to make man aware of this reality, thus serving to guide man on his entire journey through life into the after-life. The main themes of the Quran are enlightenment, closeness to God, peace and spirituality. The Quran uses several terms, tawassum, tadabbur, and tafakkur, which indicate the learning of lessons through reflection, thinking and contemplation on the signs of God scattered across the world. The present translation of the Quran and its explanatory notes are written keeping in mind these very themes.

Book excerpt: "The Qur'an has been interpreted by many scholars (Muslims and non-Muslims) for centuries, and many interpretive works presently in circulation are more or less similar in tone and contents. The "Essential Message of Islam," however, is a challenging book that stands apart from the traditional interpretive works. Evolved primarily by a computer-aided scrutiny of the Qur'anic text, the book provides an invaluable source that offers eye-opening and enlightening insights to the Muslims' sacred Text, without any personal, sectarian, cultural or gender influences. The book removes any misconception about Muslim-Christian-Jewish relationships, presenting Islam as a 'Universal Religion' that promotes a peaceful coexistence of people of all faiths. A must read book for all!" -- Publisher description.

This book was released on 2015-01-12 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study illustrates why the language of the Qur'an is miraculous, unique, and evidence of divine authority. The author compares the language of the Qur'an with the language of pre-Islamic poetry, the Prophet's words (hadith), and the language of the Arabs both past and present, to demonstrate that although the Qur'an was revealed in Arabic it was at the same time an Arabic which was entirely new. Original and early Muslim audiences viewed this as miraculous and responded to the Qur'an's words, sounds, rhythms, etc. in a manner consistent with a deeper appreciation of its beauty and majesty which modern ears, trained by familiarity, and despite being surrounded by all manner of dictionaries and studies, are at a loss to capture. The author attempts to remove this veil and present the Qur'an to readers as if hearing it for the first time, to bring to life some of this wonder. In doing so he guides readers to appreciate the beauty of the Qur'an, to become more immersed in it, and to have a clearer understanding of its structure and flow. Devoting special attention to Surah Al Muddaththir, to underpin his analysis, Saeh thus brings the Revelation to life, to demonstrate that each surah has distinct features and characteristics that make it stand out uniquely within the design and sweep of the whole.

Book excerpt: A “timely and provocative” biography of Islam’s foundational text: “The history of the book is a map of the world we live in today” (Tribune-Review). Few books in history have been as poorly understood as the Qur’an. Sent down in a series of revelations to the Prophet Muhammad, the Qur’an is the unmediated word of Allah: a ritual, political, and legal authority; an ethical and spiritual guide; and a literary masterpiece that inspires devotion, passion, fear, and sometimes incomprehension. In The Qur’an, historian and Islamic Studies professor Bruce Lawrence shows precisely how the Qur’an is the embodiment of Islam. He describes the origins of the faith in seventh-century Arabia and explains why the Qur’an is memorized and recited by devout Muslims. Lawrence also discusses the Qur’an’s commentators and doubters and assesses its tremendous influence on today’s societies and politics. Above all, Lawrence emphasizes that the Qur’an is a sacred book of signs that cannot be reduced to a single, obvious message. It is a book that demands interpretation and one that can be properly understood only through its long and storied history. “An important work for those seeking to understand—and defend—Islam.” —Kirkus Reviews

Book excerpt: Even those who dispute the Quran do not question that it is in its original form. This enables one to travel back in time to take a closer look at the Prophet Muhammad, who is amongst the most towering personalities in history. This book avails that priceless chance to reconstruct his life based on evidence as well preserved as the Quran. It also explores the Quran’s message on issues ranging from justice and women to the treatment of other religions, to see if the disconnect between certain Islamic practices and the modern world is based on misreading of the Quran. Among other topics, the book assesses the claims that the Quran is a scientific miracle, contains no inconsistencies, and is a masterpiece of literature, and also discusses the controversial incident of the “Satanic” verses in light of disclosures in the Quran. The effort is to gain a holistic understanding of possibly the most influential book of all time. The author has chosen to write under a penname, Seeker of the Truth, but remains optimistic of disclosing his identity in the future. He does not doubt that a vast majority of Muslims would allow him to express the views noted in this book, which are founded on the Quran. “Sedq uses many different translations of the Quran to present the material as clearly and sensibly as possible. ... Bottom line: This is an intriguing, engaging look at a religion still misunderstood by many in the West. ... It is bound to provoke heated debate.” –Blueink Review “A searching look at the teachings of the Quran. ... Sedq takes up several common assertions about the Quran and subjects them to a scholarly, thorough, and often refreshingly cant-free contemporary analysis that takes modern social norms and literary scholarship into account. ... Sedq offers an interpretative look at the Quran that curious minds of all faiths will find fascinating.” –Kirkus Reviews What’s the most interesting or important book to come out recently about the Islamic world? “The Quran Speaks by Bahis Sedq: a hugely important book by a scholar of Islam who is, to my mind, the most sophisticated of all the dissidents in the Muslim world. He could be the Muslim Luther, if there were only a way to keep him safe.” –Ayaan Hirsi Ali in The New York Times

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To some, the concept of having faith in a higher power or a set of religious beliefs is nonsensical. Indeed, many view religion in general, and Christianity in particular, as unfounded and unreasonable. Norman Geisler and Frank Turek argue, however, that Christianity is not only more reasonable than all other belief systems, but is indeed more rational than unbelief itself. With conviction and clear thinking, Geisler and Turek guide readers through some of the traditional, tested arguments for the existence of a creator God. They move into an examination of the source of morality and the reliability of the New Testament accounts concerning Jesus. The final section of the book deals with a detailed investigation of the claims of Christ. This volume will be an interesting read for those skeptical about Christianity, as well as a helpful resource for Christians seeking to articulate a more sophisticated defense of their faith.

Book excerpt: With so many English translations of the Qur'an available, it is inevitable that the reader would ask "why make another one?" The answer to that question lays in the current structure of the Islamic faith itself, and the fact that, for many centuries, Islam has been primarily sub-categorized as either Sunni or Shia or one of the many other denominations that have emerged over the years. As such, all translators have belonged to one school of thought or another which clearly comes across in the interpretation of and choice of translation for specific words or verses. "The Message" is the result of a group effort by people who do not belong to any denomination, and, for the first time in many centuries, are simply proud to call themselves Muslims as God had named centuries ago. Also, while many translators have been sincere in their rendering of the Arabic meaning of the words, they have been unable to refrain from adding comments in the form of "parenthesis" within the text of the translation or in the form of footnotes and appendices to reflect their views on certain verses or the views of the denomination they adhere to. "The Message" is unique in the fact that it uses neither footnotes nor comments letting the text speak for itself and delivering to the reader as close a rendition of the pure message of the Qur'an as physically possible. Finally, no matter how much can be said about this translation or any other, it is imperative to point out that guidance cannot come from any human being, rather, the only true knowledge and guidance can only come from the One who initiated the heavens and Earth. May He be glorified forever. Welcome to the path of God alone. Welcome to "The Message."

Nothing is more satisfying than understanding the meaning of the Quran as you read it without going to its translation. For the first time and for those who can read Quran in Arabic at an introductory level, a successful method for learning the meaning of The Quran without a need to learn the complex Arabic language is presented in a series of books. The approach is based on the "major words" used in Quran. The students or self-learners, through exercises and easy-to-understand introductory grammars, learn the "major words" used in Quran. For instance, upon completion of Book 1, the students can understand 40% of the meaning of Quran by learning only 110 words which are used 30,000 times in Quran. The author taught the first three books in this series a few times as a test. The results were just amazing and spectacular all the way!! All his students were quite uplifted by how much they could understand when they read Quran upon completion of only the first book.

This Qur'an is rendered in short, simple sentences and easy words for children and also for adults who want to study the Qur'an in unencumbered language. This book is a continuation of the miracle that began with the original, Arabic Qur'an -a book for all people.
