Book Synopsis What Do Physical Fitness Tests Measure? by : Delmer C. Nicks
Download or read book What Do Physical Fitness Tests Measure? written by Delmer C. Nicks and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This review describes fourteen factors of physical proficiency identified from previous research. Other possible factors which might be discovered were also described. A number of questions were raised regarding the structure of skill in this area and suggestions were made for future studies to answer these questions. Several things are clear. There is no such thing as general physical proficiency. The problem is a multidimensional one. It is also clear that previous studies comparing American youth with youth of other countries have assessed only a small number of the factors already identified. Eventually the development of a battery of basic reference tests which will provide comprehensive coverage of abilities in this area is anticipated. Such measures would also allow an assessment of the relative contributions of the component abilities to a variety of different, more complex, athletic performances. An outline and description of tests which might be included in such studies is presented. Some are well known tests but others are new ideas. This outline also provides an interim report of what abilities such tests probably measure.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE NARAASHANS Motor Ability Test Manual By Author Syed Tariq Murtaza, Ph.D. A basic responsibility of professional physical educators has been the evaluation of the physical status of population especially students. Measurement and evaluation are necessary in order to determine one's motor fitness proficiency and as a means of determining if physical education programs are adequately fulfilling established goals and objectives. Tests and measurements in the field of physical education are comparatively recent outgrowth of the general testing movements (Achenbach 1992; Berks 2003; Barnett & Peter 2004). Beginning late in the 19th century as strength tests, tests of track and field and anthropometric measurements, they have increased in number and completeness with amazing rapidity.
