Since many words are repeated in the Quran, the student will find for himself that within a few months of regular study, he is indeed able to understand the Quran through the text itself. It may also be pointed out that a beginner does not have to, in the start itself, be worried about learning extensive grammar or how to speak the Arabic language. In fact, one has to develop vocabulary before learning grammar for the following reasons: * A child first learns words and then starts linking them together. We speak our mother tongue fluently without ever learning the grammatical rules. That is to say, we learn it by repeatedly listening to the words. * Learning extensive grammar before improving vocabulary is like putting the cart before the horse. Or it is like learning different styles of swimming by moving hands in the air inside a swimming pool without water. One has to fill the swimming pool with water (i.e., increase vocabulary) and then learn to swim (i.e., to connect the words with grammatical rules).

The answer to that question lays in the current structure of the Islamic faith itself, and the fact that, for many centuries, Islam has been primarily sub-categorized as either Sunni or Shia or one of the many other denominations that have emerged over the years. As such, all translators have belonged to one school of thought or another which clearly comes across in the interpretation of and choice of translation for specific words or verses. "The Message" is the result of a group effort by people who do not belong to any denomination, and, for the first time in many centuries, are simply proud to call themselves Muslims as God had named centuries ago. Also, while many translators have been sincere in their rendering of the Arabic meaning of the words, they have been unable to refrain from adding comments in the form of "parenthesis" within the text of the translation or in the form of footnotes and appendices to reflect their views on certain verses or the views of the denomination they adhere to. "The Message" is unique in the fact that it uses neither footnotes nor comments letting the text speak for itself and delivering to the reader as close a rendition of the pure message of the Qur'an as physically possible. Finally, no matter how much can be said about this translation or any other, it is imperative to point out that guidance cannot come from any human being, rather, the only true knowledge and guidance can only come from the One who initiated the heavens and Earth. The Qur'an was revealed to the last prophet and messenger Muḥammad (محمد) from the year 610 until his death in 632 by the angel Gabriel (جبريل). According to the Qur'an, God exists and is unique, and He is the author of all the sacred books of the three monotheistic religions that are Islam, Christianity, and Judaism. He thus revealed the Gospel to the penultimate prophet Jesus and the Torah to the prophet Moses. We read thus in verse 3 of sura 3: "It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind". However, Islam considers that, with the exception of the Quran, all the holy Books have been falsified by man. Verse 75 of Sura 2 goes in this direction: "Well, do you hope [Muslims] that such people [the Jews] will share your faith with you? while a group of them; after having heard and understood the word of Allah, knowingly falsified it." As the influence of Islam grows and spreads to the world, translating the Qur'an is of fundamental importance in order to introduce and explain Islam to anyone interested. This present work is a translation into English of the meaning of the verses of the Quran made by Abdullah Yusuf Ali. This translation is considered to be one of the most faithful rendering available in English.
